In an exciting update from the recently concluded RGG Summit 2025 livestream, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio unveiled its latest project, Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties. This announcement confirmed earlier leaks that hinted at the game’s development, much to the delight of fans.

An “Extreme”Remake of a Classic

Described as an ‘extreme’ remake of the 2009 action/adventure title, Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties promises a comprehensive overhaul designed to breathe new life into the beloved classic. Players can expect the vibrant streets of both Okinawa and Tokyo to be meticulously recreated, with enhanced graphics that elevate the bustling urban environments.

The reimagined combat system aims to intensify the signature brawler gameplay, ensuring that fights are more thrilling than ever. Additionally, new narrative scenes will enrich the original story, providing deeper emotional connections for players, while a variety of enhanced side missions will further immerse gamers in the Yakuza universe.

Dive into Dark Ties

Yakuza Kiwami 3 isn’t just a simple remake; it also introduces a brand-new side game titled Dark Ties, focusing on the character Yoshitaka Mine. This prequel narrative develops Mine’s descent into the shadowy world of the Yakuza following significant personal loss. As he seeks meaningful connections, players will experience a gripping journey crafted through dynamic boxing-combat sequences and diverse side activities.

It’s important to note that save data from the original Yakuza 0 will not transfer, necessitating a new purchase for current owners. The Director’s Cut is set to launch on December 8, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X.

On the same day, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio will also release Yakuza Kiwami and Kiwami 2 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X. For fans looking for a comprehensive experience, a Yakuza Series 20th Anniversary Bundle will be available in physical format, containing Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut, Kiwami, and Kiwami 2, exclusively for PC and PlayStation 5.
