Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition has been slated to enhance gameplay with the innovative Quick Recast mechanic. This exciting feature was unveiled in a recent Nintendo preview, which also spotlighted various new elements being introduced in the upcoming game.
Originally released as a Wii U exclusive in 2015, this third installment in the Xenoblade Chronicles series has been significantly reworked for the Nintendo Switch. Announced in late October 2024, the Definitive Edition is anticipated to launch on March 20, 2025.
According to a detailed overview released by Nintendo Japan, players can look forward to Quick Recast, which accelerates cooldown rates for Arts. This feature can be activated effortlessly by pressing the Y button, as reported by Nintendo Everything. However, its use is moderated through a gauge that can be replenished by performing auto-attacks during battles. The most recent trailer for the Definitive Edition illustrates this feature during combat against the Bronze Cinicula, showcasing the Quick Recast gauge at the screen’s lower part.
Unveiling Hraesvelg: The New Skell
The preview also highlighted a fresh addition to the game: Hraesvelg. This light-themed mech is capable of transitioning into a flying machine and brandishes a large sword while in ground mode. The recent trailer featured Hraesvelg in its flight form, revealing its unique capabilities. The identity of Hraesvelg’s pilot remains a secret, with Nintendo teasing that further information will be disclosed soon.
Additionally, the character glimpsed in the January 2025 trailer has been identified as Neil Nail, although her name may be altered in the English version. Her role within the storyline is not yet clear, but indications suggest she may have ties to several Skells featured in the RPG.
The much-anticipated release of Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition is set for March 20, 2025, coinciding with the first day of spring. As is customary for first-party Nintendo titles, the game will be priced at $59.99 for both digital and physical copies. This release is expected to be one of the final offerings for the Nintendo Switch, as the company prepares to transition to its next-generation console, anticipated to be announced by March 31, 2025.
