April 2025 Xbox Updates: New Features and Enhancements
Microsoft has unveiled a series of significant updates for Xbox platforms this April, highlighting enhancements to the Xbox mobile app, the introduction of the Stream Your Own Game feature on consoles, and broadened Remote Play capabilities across various devices.
Revamped Xbox Mobile App
The April update brings a major overhaul to the Xbox app for mobile users, responding to the community’s most in-demand feature requests. Users can now seamlessly purchase games, add-on content, subscribe to Game Pass, and redeem perks right from the app on both Android and iOS.
According to Microsoft, “If players already have a saved form of payment, the Xbox app will display a Buy button on game detail pages, allowing them to purchase games and add-on content with just two clicks, ”as stated in a recent update by the company. Currently, beta testers are experiencing these new features, with a wider rollout to the general public expected shortly.
Stream Your Own Game Feature Expands

Remote Play Functionality Enhancement
Another key addition this month is the broadening of Remote Play, which is now accessible via the xbox.com/remoteplay website, eliminating the need for the specific Xbox mobile app. This feature will soon support a range of devices including select Samsung Smart TVs, Amazon Fire TV devices, and Meta Quest headsets. Furthermore, the list of titles compatible with Remote Play will be expanded to include backward-compatible Xbox and Xbox 360 games later this month.
Additional Features and Improvements
Among other enhancements, Microsoft has introduced a new feature called Free Up Space, which alerts gamers about duplicate copies of games or titles they may not be able to access. Moreover, game hubs on Xbox consoles have been enhanced to present users with a comprehensive dashboard that includes achievements, friends currently playing the game, recent captures, downloadable content, upcoming events, and additional details. Users now also have the option to bypass these hubs and directly launch their games from the settings menu.
