Exciting Announcements from Xbox Games Showcase 2025
As the Xbox Games Showcase 2025 drew to a close, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer made a significant entrance, just before transitioning to the Obsidian Direct, which spotlighted upcoming titles like The Outer Worlds 2 and Grounded 2. Spencer shared thrilling insights about the first-party game lineup scheduled for release next year, including a highly anticipated Forza game and some intriguing Halo hints. Here’s what he stated:
Looking ahead, next year marks 25 years of Xbox. It’s a big milestone for the platform and franchises that you helped build and make popular. We couldn’t have done this without everyone who’s been with us on this journey. As we think about bringing a new generation of players to these iconic franchises, I’m excited to share that players will get to celebrate 25 years of Xbox with a new Fable, the next Forza, Gears of War: E-Day, and the return of a classic that’s been with us since the beginning.
Anticipated Titles on the Horizon
Among the titles mentioned, Gears of War: E-Day and Fable are already established entries in the Xbox repertoire. However, details surrounding the new Forza game remain ambiguous. It is unclear whether this will be a continuation of the main simulation series spearheaded by Turn 10 or a new entry in the open-world Forza Horizon franchise. Given the timeline—Forza Horizon 5 launching in 2021 and Forza Motorsport releasing in 2023—the expectation leans toward a new Forza Horizon installment.
Fans Speculate a Halo Comeback
Spencer’s cryptic reference to ‘a classic that’s been with us since the beginning’ sparked substantial speculation among Xbox enthusiasts. Many anticipate this hint points toward a Halo game, which has been emblematic of the Xbox brand since its inception in 2001. This could potentially involve a remake or remaster of Halo: Combat Evolved. Alternatively, there’s the possibility of reintroducing Project Gotham Racing—another beloved title from the early Xbox era. However, the grand claims made by Spencer might indicate that he’s focusing on a different iconic property since a new Forza title is already confirmed for 2026.
Stay Tuned for Updates
As we anticipate further revelations, more information may surface before the end of the year. We will continue to track and report on any emerging rumors or leaks regarding these highly awaited games.
