‘Xbot’ AI Chat Chatbot in the Works at Microsoft

According to reports, Microsoft is developing an AI-based chatbot for Xbox that will assist with automating game refund processes and addressing support inquiries.

According to sources familiar with Microsoft’s plans, The Verge has reported that the company is working on a new AI chatbot for its Xbox products, currently dubbed the ‘Xbot’. This is part of a larger effort by Microsoft to incorporate AI technology into its Xbox offerings. The chatbot is currently in internal testing and is able to efficiently handle support inquiries from users with its opening prompt of “How can I help you today?”

According to a statement from Xbox general manager of gaming AI, Haiyan Zhang, the Verge has been informed that we are currently testing an internal prototype of an animated character called the Xbox Support Virtual Agent. This prototype is capable of using both voice and text to query Xbox Support topics and aims to make it faster and easier for players to receive assistance with support issues by utilizing natural language and information from existing Xbox Support pages.

Apparently, the ‘Xbot’ is linked to Microsoft’s Xbox support documents and has the ability to facilitate game refunds. According to an alleged internal description of the Xbox chatbot at Microsoft, this agent can assist with any Xbox support inquiries.

Many members of the community have caught wind of this rumored Xbox AI chatbot and have already started calling it ‘Xbot’ in reference to Microsoft’s dedicated fan base.

Microsoft has been making significant investments in AI for quite some time now. Last year, the company formed a long-term partnership with Inworld AI to develop a comprehensive toolset for game makers.
