WWE scraps tag team reunion due to injury – Reports
According to reports, an injury earlier this year led to the cancellation of a highly anticipated reunion of a popular tag team in WWE.
Despite giving it her all in a match against NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria, Cora Jade sustained a serious injury. The clash resulted in a torn ACL for Jade, rendering her unable to compete for the foreseeable future. This injury comes after Jade’s previous absence from television, which lasted several months after her defeat to Dana Brooke in a Kendo stick match on the July 25, 2023 episode of NXT.
Ash, formerly known as Brooke, is now representing Elegance in TNA Wrestling. She was previously part of a tag team with Roxanne Perez, who is set to compete for the NXT Women’s Championship this Saturday at Stand & Deliver.
According to information from Corey Brennan shared on Fightful Select, WWE had intended to bring Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez back together in NXT. Unfortunately, Jade’s ACL injury in January prevented this reunion from happening.
Roxanne Perez’s WrestleMania Dream: Headlining with Cora Jade
Roxanne Perez, a past NXT Women’s Champion, expressed her desire to face off against Cora Jade at a potential WrestleMania in the future. Despite Cora Jade’s betrayal after the two held the NXT Tag Team Championship, it seems that the past conflict has been resolved.
She foresaw a future where the two stars would face off against each other in a WWE WrestleMania event.
“I would love to wrestle Cora Jade for years and years. One day, I truly feel we are going to be headlining WrestleMania. So, yeah, we are the future, and this is why everybody should be watching NXT because we are the stars of tomorrow,”said Roxanne Perez. [19:55 – 20:11]
