WWE move saw Corey Graves “hurt” during the show; personality says Michael Cole would have “been in tears”

Despite having an exhilarating experience on Friday Night SmackDown, Corey Graves was caught off guard by what happened next. While performing his duties as a 40-year-old play-by-play commentator, he unfortunately sustained an injury due to a botched WWE move.

During the Street Profits’ match against Austin Theory and Grayson Waller, there was a slight mishap. Waller attempted to attack Montez Ford by sliding out of the ring, but Ford was able to easily dodge the feet-first slide.

As Waller was still adjusting to his surroundings, Angelo Dawkins charged towards him with incredible speed, causing him to be launched over the commentary desk and landing squarely in Corey Graves’ lap.

Despite Waller bouncing off the lead SmackDown commentator, Graves attempted to regain his balance on his half-overturned chair. Unfortunately, he was unable to do so and ended up flying through the air with his legs in the air.

The moment is visible below:

According to Wade Barrett, who is a commentator on the blue brand, if Michael Cole had been in Graves’ position, he would have been in tears as well.

“I’m glad it was you and not Michael Cole. Michael Cole would have been in tears.”

The incident has gained widespread attention on the internet, circulating on various social media platforms. Corey Graves has now addressed the situation, expressing his surprise at the intensity of The Grayson Waller Effect, the finishing move of the 40-year-old Australian wrestler.

Take a look at the tweet from Graves below:

Despite being “hurt,”he maintained his usual good spirits and appeared to take the situation in good humor as he continued on with the night.

Corey Graves Brings the Laughs to WWE SmackDown

Despite being able to regain his footing, Corey Graves expressed his disappointment in not having the coveted front-row view at WWE shows, something he was accustomed to.

Later, he mentioned that if he stayed there any longer, he could potentially end up in traction.

“This isn’t exactly what I had in mind… I’m going to be in traction if I stay here too much longer.”

Since Michael Cole’s departure to RAW with Pat McAfee, Graves and Wade Barrett have been the commentary duo on SmackDown.
