WWE makes official announcement for Rey Mysterio’s WrestleMania match this year
WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio will once again be participating in WrestleMania this year.
The iconic luchador has joined forces with Dragon Lee to take on the duo of Santos Escobar and Dominik Mysterio in an upcoming tag team match. The idea for this showdown was first proposed on SmackDown last Friday when the Latino World Order came face to face with Legado Del Fantasma. Rey publicly challenged the opposing faction and invited his son, Dominik, and Santos to a tag team match. He later announced that his partner for the match would be Lee, the Master of the 619.
This week on SmackDown LowDown, WWE officially announced the match and added it to the WrestleMania XL card. This guarantees that Rey will once again have the chance to teach his son a lesson. Lee and Dominik also have a history of animosity, as Lee ended Dominik’s NXT North American Championship reign last year.
At last year’s WrestleMania 39, Rey fought against and emerged victorious over The Judgment Day member in a one-on-one match.
Rey Mysterio discusses the expansion of the Latino World Order with the addition of Dragon Lee
Following the announcement of the tag team match, WWE correspondent Kayla Braxton caught up with Rey Mysterio and the other members of the Latino World Order to gather their thoughts. Rey expressed that he faced a challenging task in selecting a partner, but ultimately felt confident in Dragon Lee’s skills and was thrilled to have the talented 28-year-old join their faction.
“This is a very exciting moment for the group, for the LWO. It was a very hard decision for me to make on who would be my partner but everything just kinda comes out on the fly. The moment was hot and I know he really wanted to be a part of this group. Latinos forever,”Rey Mysterio said.

Despite his nerves, Lee was determined to make his stablemates proud as he faced off against his childhood hero, Rey Mysterio, alongside him in the ring at WrestleMania XL. He was especially grateful for Mysterio’s belief in him, which only fueled his determination to impress everyone in the match, including his rival Santos Escobar and Mysterio’s son, Dominik.
