Wuthering Waves has launched its highly anticipated version 2.0, unveiling the new Rinascita region packed with intriguing Tacet Discords for players to discover. Among these challenges is the enigmatic Chop Chop, a whimsical floating eyeball crowned with a top hat and flanked by two ghostly hands, reminiscent of characters from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. However, the standout adversary is a unique variant known as the Lifer, known for presenting gamers with formidable obstacles.
Players can locate the Lifer at the heart of the maze in Oakheart Highcourt, situated in the Fagaceae Peninsula. This exceptional Chop Chop boasts a plethora of buffs that amplify its resilience and damage output, demanding a strategic approach. This guide offers a comprehensive walkthrough to help players systematically dismantle the Lifer’s buff arsenal, making the confrontation more attainable.
How to Defeat the Lifer
Finding the Lifer
To track down the Lifer, head to the maze’s central area beneath the expansive roots of the giant tree in Oakheart Highcourt. However, not all access points are available at the start. The primary entrance can be found on the southwest side, adjacent to the Resonance Beacon. Players have the option to ascend the walls from this direction or utilize the Flight function to soar above the maze’s obstacles.
The Lifer Board Game
Upon entry, players will find themselves beside an elaborate board game featuring six distinct game pieces. The goal is to connect three pieces in a row before the Lifer achieves the same. The player commands the black pieces, while the Lifer manages the white ones. Notably, this board game has the capability to reshape the maze’s walls depending on the placement of the player’s black markers. When a player places a black piece on the outer circle, adjacent walls and gates in that direction will unlock.
Though participating in the board game is optional, it is critical for effectively stripping away the Lifer’s buffs. Players are advised against concluding the game prematurely—winning without removing the buffs will prompt the Lifer to initiate immediate combat.
Removing the Lifer’s Buffs
The Lifer is equipped with a total of seven buffs, making the encounter particularly daunting without a robust team. Four of these buffs are removable using an item known as the Stake of Imbalance, whereas the remaining three are permanent and critical to retain during combat. Players can inspect these buffs via the glowing yellow module located just behind the Lifer.
Removable Buffs (Fragility):
- **Growing Loneliness:** The Lifer restores 10% of its maximum health every second when left unchallenged for over 2 seconds.
- **Desire for Escape:** This buff increases the Lifer’s attack power by 25%, with damage output further boosted by 25% every 20 seconds.
- **Impending Stalemate:** Each time the Lifer deals damage, its attack increases by 20%, stacking up to four times, and resets if no damage is dealt in 6 seconds.
- **Decay of Time:** Enhances the Lifer’s resistances and health, providing 200% resistance to Glacio, Fusion, Electro, Aero, Spectro, and Havoc, along with a 25% boost to maximum health.
Permanently Active Buffs (Stability):
- **Chains of Confinement:** Grants the Lifer immunity to interruptions when health exceeds 50%.
- **Endless Game:** Cuts the duration of immobilization effects on the Lifer by half.
- **Divine Garden:** After taking over 25% of total health in a single hit, the Lifer retaliates, dealing damage to nearby foes.
To uncover the Stake of Imbalance, players must engage the Sensor tool near the Lifer, which identifies four corresponding locations denoted by purple lines. These lines guide players to four distinct rooms within the maze’s perimeter. Accessing these rooms involves strategically positioning the black game pieces to unlock the necessary paths.
Upon accessing the rooms, players may encounter various challenges, such as defeating Tacet Discords or destroying Friable Rocks. The stakes are easily identifiable due to their distinct white glow. Players should endeavor to collect each Stake of Imbalance and insert them into the designated modules located near the corresponding statues to eliminate associated buffs from the Lifer. Successfully removed buffs will be indicated by a color change on the sensor display.
Conquering the Lifer
Once all four buffs have been disposed of, players can confidently approach the Lifer, ready for an adjusted level of combat difficulty. They may opt to secure victory in the board game or directly engage by selecting “Fight it out!” By shedding the four buffs, the Lifer’s combat prowess diminishes to a level comparable to that of a common Chop Chop, with its offensive capabilities posing minimal threats.
Defeating the Lifer for the first time rewards players with a Premium Supply Chest, while subsequent triumphs garner additional chests, including Basic Supply Chests and an Advanced Supply Chest for the third win. For those looking for an escalated challenge, buffs can be reactivated, although there are no achievements associated with defeating the Lifer under these conditions.
Achievements Related to the Lifer
Besides the inventory rewards, players can acquire four specific achievements tied to the Lifer and its board game:
- **The Lifer’s Salvation:** Defeat the Lifer in Oakheart Highcourt.
- **The Ring of The Lifer:** Claim all treasures guarded by the Lifer.
- Defeat him three times to unlock all nine chests.
- **Limit of Intelligence:** Secure a win against the Lifer in the board game.
- **Alpha Go:** Experience defeat against the Lifer in the board game ten times.
For players finding it difficult to win against the Lifer in the board game, focusing on blocking its moves to connect three pieces is key. With time, the Lifer may become impatient, presenting an opportunity for players to take advantage of its mistakes.
