1. Longswords

The journey in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers begins with the Cloudfrost’s Edge Longsword—a reliable weapon that can keep you competitive as you progress into the mid-game. Longswords, along with One-Handed Swords, remain popular among players due to their versatility.

Utilizing the Sword Counter Discipline, players can parry incoming attacks, making it easier to defeat challenging bosses. If you enjoy mastering timing in combat, this technique is particularly useful.

Cloudfrost’s Edge

  • Weapon Skill: Dash Strike – Dash forward while striking; ideal for outmaneuvering slow foes. Combine with Skyborn Might for enhanced effects.
  • Default Discipline: Blink Kick – Perform a swift kick from a low stance. Pair with Skyborn Might for increased power.

Lashing Whip

  • Weapon Skill: Whip Dance – Charge up for a sweeping attack that deals damage all around. Use with Skyborn Might to unleash a whip-like attack.
  • Default Discipline: Blink Kick – Similar to Cloudfrost’s Edge, this kick is effective for quick counters.

2. One-Handed Swords

For players wanting to integrate spells into their combat, One-Handed Swords are essential. Their branch in the Impetus Repository allows boosting of both Magic and Feathering stats, making them great for spellcasting.

The Astral Blade generally offers higher Spell damage, but the Darkfrost Edge’s Evasive Maneuver skill provides a vital defensive edge—allowing for automatic evasion of attacks when timed correctly.

Darkfrost Edge

  • Weapon Skill: Evasive Maneuver – Dodge to the side, evading attacks while also enhancing your spells when using Skyborn Might.
  • Default Discipline: Flickering Blade – Strike rapidly to weaken an enemy’s attack; this skill provides partial damage immunity during its execution.

Astral Blade

  • Weapon Skill: Awakening Seal – Buff your Spell damage temporarily; requires the Biding Time Impetus Repository Node for optimal use.
  • Default Discipline: Flickering Blade – Similar to Darkfrost Edge, it provides agility and speed in combat.

3. Dual Blades

While Dual Blades deliver rapid strikes and are exhilarating to use, they are less effective early in the game without unlocking the Clash and Deflect abilities in the Impetus Repository. Mastery of these Skills allows for relentless assaults and damage redirection, albeit with a steep learning curve.

Among them, Firearm Blades stand out as they can shoot projectiles, though their firing speed is relatively slow.

Un-Equilibrium Blades

  • Weapon Skill: Spinning Kick – Unleash a rapid spinning kick combo; enhance with Skyborn Might for added effect.
  • Default Discipline: Sudden Strike – Attack while spinning to surprise foes and gain positional advantage.

Firearm Blades

  • Weapon Skill: Perfect Aim – A powerful shot that stuns enemies, allowing for follow-up attacks. Requires sufficient Skyborn Might.
  • Default Discipline: Sudden Strike – Similar to Un-Equilibrium Blades, effective for quick engagements.

4. Spears

Spears feature excellent reach in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers, adding a tactical advantage in battle. They allow for crowd control, particularly enjoyable when sending enemies off cliffs. However, their slower attack speed can be a disadvantage.

Red-Tasseled Spear

  • Weapon Skill: Ebb and Flow – Thrust forward for multiple damage instances; activate Clash effects with Skyborn Might for added crowd control.
  • Default Discipline: Aerial Bulwark – Enhance dodging capability while charging; counterattack as you evade.

Steampowered Spear

  • Weapon Skill: Steam Chain – Transforming into three segments for sweeping strikes; extend reach and spin enemies with Skyborn Might.
  • Default Discipline: Aerial Bulwark – Similar benefits as Red-Tasseled Spear, particularly during evasive maneuvers.

5. Axes

In terms of early-game Axes, the Halberd is your only option unless you’re equipped with the Deluxe Edition’s exclusive weapons. This hefty weapon delivers significant damage, particularly as players enhance their Axe proficiency.

The default Discipline for Halberd enables players to block attacks, with advanced techniques allowing for high-damage smashing or spinning attacks that can break enemy defenses.

Halberd

  • Weapon Skill: Mighty Blow – A hard-hitting attack that can devastate enemy defenses. Use with Skyborn Might for amplified results.
  • Default Discipline: Block – Effective for reducing damage taken from enemy strikes.
