In the realm of boss battles presented in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, one encounter stands out for its distinctiveness: the Fierce Tiger. This formidable foe appears in the mid-game, just before players transition into the climax of the storyline, making it a fitting finale for that act.
In this guide, I will detail effective strategies for defeating the Fierce Tiger in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. You’ll find information about its moveset, where to locate it, and preferred tactics to ensure your success in this challenging boss fight.
Locating the Fierce Tiger

Fortunately, you won’t have to search far to confront the Fierce Tiger, as this boss is essential for advancing in the main storyline. It is the last boss you’ll face in the Mt. Zhenwu region, which serves as a pivotal mid-game area.
To reach it, progress past the South General boss and navigate through the Zhenwu Temple until you arrive at the summit.Once there, safely bypass the enemies that inflict despair and locate the Pavilion of Knowledge Shrine within a cave, as depicted in the image above.
Exit via the stairs and traverse the temple rooftop where a dropable pathway will become visible.Utilize the ladder at the end to descend into a small enemy outpost, but be cautious of the cannon-wielding enemies as they can be quite damaging.
Additionally, there’s a shrine positioned slightly above this outpost, and passing through the doors adjacent to it leads directly to the arena where you’ll face the Fierce Tiger. This design allows for one of the quickest boss runbacks, should you happen to fall in battle—something that may occur given the fight’s two-part nature.

Temperance Needle | Bone Needle – Poise Break/Flame |
As the Fierce Tiger employs devastating lightning damage attacks, it is advisable to don armor that provides maximum lightning resistance. Interestingly, the South General’s armor, obtained in the preceding boss fight, offers substantial protection against this elemental damage—though wearing it is ultimately your choice.

Our strategy centers heavily around the powerful i-frame capabilities of the Ethereal Form spell. If you’re utilizing the Longsword, ensure that the Sword Saint skill is active to trigger Skyborn Might for the Ethereal Form proc.
While the Longsword is the primary choice, the Dual Blades are also viable options here. Given the boss’s aggressive moves, maximizing stamina becomes crucial; thus, both the Pendants and Benedictions should emphasize stamina recovery.
Lastly, consider using Bone Needles for your Temperance; I’ve alternated between those for poise breaks and flame to inflict burn status, providing significant passive damage against bosses.
Understanding the Fierce Tiger’s Moveset
Before we delve into tactics for defeating this fierce adversary, familiarity with the Fierce Tiger’s major attacks is essential. Below is a breakdown of its most significant moves to help you anticipate its actions:
Boss | Attack | Description |
---|---|---|
Fierce Tiger | Frontal Charge | The likely initial attack, where the tiger charges at you with a headbutt from a distance. Roll sideways to dodge it. |
Fierce Tiger | Double Thrusting Charges | The tiger lunges twice consecutively. Avoiding this predictable attack should be straightforward, but it can catch you off guard. |
Claw Swipes and Slams | Quick claw swipes and the occasional slam with its left paw. | |
Lightning Roar | The tiger roars, summoning lightning strikes to the area. Dodging the roar while staying close can help you avoid the strikes. | |
Lightning Paw | Raising its claw to summon lightning before slamming it down for AOE damage. Maintain a safe distance to evade. | |
Lightning Tail | This deadly attack involves unleashing a lightning wave while leaping backward, making it difficult to dodge. The Ethereal Form is particularly beneficial here. | |
Lightning Somersault | A variant of the tail attack where the tiger spins and then releases a lightning wave. | |
Lightning Orb | The tiger launches a tracking lightning orb that will explode after a few seconds. Keep moving and evade just before it bursts. | |
Lightning Laser | The tiger unleashes a powerful laser attack which can be evaded with careful timing. | |
Sovereign – Zhang Xianzhong | Aerial Lightning Slams | Zhang Xianzhong jumps into the air, calling down two lightning strikes before slamming down for massive AOE damage. Use Ethereal Form for the slam. |
Double Claw Swipe | A more aggressive version of the regular swipe using both paws. This faster attack is challenging to avoid but manageable with Ethereal Form. | |
Triple Lightning Orbs | You will face three orbs that explode shortly after each one approaches. Timing your evasion will be key. | |
Double Lightning Laser | A cooperative laser attack from the tiger and Zhang Xianzhong, easy to dodge, presenting an opportunity for counterattacks. | |
Lightning Roar Stomps Into Headbutt | After the roar, the tiger jumps twice followed by a powerful headbutt attack. Evade the jumps and use Ethereal Form to dodge the headbutt. | |
Lightning Glaive Slam | Zhang Xianzhong slams his glaive into the ground, producing several lightning orbs. Stay close to the tiger to avoid damage. | |
Lightning Glaive Run | Zhang Xianzhong drags his glaive while moving towards you, creating lightning surges. Roll to the side to evade. |
Strategies to Overcome the Fierce Tiger
Phase One: Initial Confrontation
With an elaborate moveset like the Fierce Tiger’s, the key takeaway is the limited opportunities to launch your own attacks.Expect the lightning assaults—particularly the tail attack—to be especially hazardous.

Although it may seem cliché, prioritizing survival through a defensive strategy during this endurance fight will make your experience much more manageable—especially knowing that the subsequent phase will be even more intense.
Your focus should be on activating the Ethereal Form, delivering two hits (triggering the Sword Saint skill), and maintaining a cycle that allows for a counter upon receiving enemy or evasive attacks. Always keep an eye on your stamina, as draining it too quickly can lead to your downfall.
Phase Two: Zhang Xianzhong Emerges

Upon defeating the Fierce Tiger, Zhang Xianzhong will appear, initiating the second phase which employs many of the same attacks, albeit with increased ferocity.
We will again rely on the Ethereal Form, but this time, it’s crucial to activate it continuously, as Zhang Xianzhong’s relentless assault provides little downtime to regroup.
If you’ve effectively evaded the onslaught from either phase, you should be able to build up your poise meter enough to stun him, resulting in an Obliterate Strike that can inflict serious damage.
Stay vigilant and avoid sprinting excessively to reserve stamina primarily for using the Ethereal Form for evasion. When the opportunity arises, be sure to utilize your weapon skills in conjunction with the Coiled Dragon pendant.
