In the immersive world of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, the Great Yonder Gang represents a pivotal storyline. This group, led by the determined Shen Jing’an, is determined to break free from the oppressive regime of the Mistress of the Night and escape the confines of Cloudspire City.
Shen Jing’an, the daughter of Shen Yanping, is joined by her loyal companions Glut and Matchstick. This guide will primarily focus on their intertwined journeys, especially highlighting Shen Jing’an as the central character in this questline.
After assisting the gang in their escape from the city, your mission is to ensure their safe passage out of this desolate land. Let’s explore the steps needed to successfully complete the Great Yonder Gang quest in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers.
Meeting Matchstick’s Grandmother
Although meeting Matchstick’s grandmother isn’t mandatory, it’s a beneficial encounter along your journey. Head to Mort Grotto, located near the Cloudspire Outskirts. Begin your quest at the Snowy Passage Shrine.
From the shrine, proceed toward the Cloudspire Outskirts, but instead of entering through the main door, veer right and descend the hill. You’ll spot a wooden platform clinging to the cliff face on your left.
Climb onto the wooden platform and interact with the unique rock wall. After completing her dialogue, you’ll receive the Vitality Bowl.
Meeting the Great Yonder Gang
To engage with the Great Yonder Gang, you must navigate the story carefully. Upon arriving at the Rebel Camp in the Cloudspire Outskirts, refrain from defeating the General of the North; instead, light all the pyres to access Cloudspire City while only confronting the Ming General.
If you eliminate the General of the North beforehand, all members of the Great Yonder Gang will perish, leaving only a mourning Shen Jing’an who will be unresponsive.
Once you’re in Cloudspire City, navigate from the Cloudspire City Shrine through the buildings to find a pathway leading towards the cliffs where you’ll discover two ladders.
Climbing these ladders, you’ll encounter Shen Yanping, known as the Butler, who will inform you that the kids are nearby and discuss a missing wedding dress.
Instead of heading up the stairs by Shen Yanping, divert to your right into the adjacent building, where you’ll find Matchstick and Shen Jing’an. By agreeing to join the Great Yonder Gang, Shen Jing’an will entrust you with her hat.
Afterward, converse with Matchstick who will grant you the Celebration Emote and request the Vitality Bowl given to you by his grandma. This act might draw some tears but will later prompt him to engage in conversation.
When you return to Shen Jing’an, she’ll mention that her friend Glut has gone missing, promising to reward you with the Wedding Dress upon successfully retrieving him.
Finding Glut and Getting the Wedding Dress
Your immediate responsibility as a member of the Great Yonder Gang is to locate Glut, who is hiding within Cloudspire City. You won’t have to venture far; retrace your steps down the ladders you just climbed.
At the base of the latter, you’ll find a cave that leads to another area of the city filled with enemies and tents.
Inside one tent, Glut will await. Engage him in conversation and advise him to seek out Shen Jing’an, which will guide him back to safety.
Return to Shen Jing’an, who will reward you with the Wedding Attire. She’ll instruct you to deliver it to Huang Yan, who resides at the summit of Cloudspire City.
Returning the Wedding Attire and Mistress of the Night
With the Wedding Attire in hand, ascend to the top of Cloudspire City where you’ll encounter Huang Yan, the NPC resembling the Mistress of the Night boss.
Present the Wedding Attire, but be sure to adopt an air of feigned ignorance when she inquires about its acquisition.
Once the attire is handed over, prepare to descend beneath the tower to confront the Mistress of the Night in battle. After defeating her, return to Shen Jing’an to report on your triumph.
The Great Yonder Gang at the Refugee Camp
Upon completing the Cloudspire segment, you’ll continue to Hillswatch and eventually reach the Refugee Camp. Here, the entire gang congregates in the lower part of the camp.
Upon finding them, Shen Jing’an will express her sorrow over her father’s illness. Offering your help is crucial; you’ll need to procure the True Origin Pill in order to assist him.
The True Origin Pill can be acquired by defeating the South General boss located within Zhenwu Temple. After securing it, return to the camp and deliver the pill to Shen Jing’an. On your return visit, you’ll find that her father is on the mend.
At this juncture, you may notice the absence of Matchstick and Glut from the camp.
Finding Matchstick and Glut’s Tokens
Next, venture into the Avian Marsh and utilize the newly unlocked shortcut ladder adjacent to the Shrine. Once you’ve ascended, explore around the nearby tree to engage a leech enemy.
Defeat the leech enemy to acquire two items: Glut’s Token and Matchstick’s Token. These tokens are vital for later interactions, so ensure they remain in your inventory.
This particular task can be completed at a later stage after interacting with Shen Jing’an and her father at the docks, though I recommend tackling it sooner to avoid overlooking their tokens.
Meeting Shen Jing’an and Shen Yanping at the Ferry Overlook
Progress through Zhenwu Temple and overcome the Fierce Tiger boss to access the path leading to the ferry overlook. Upon reaching the docks, you’ll reunite with Shen Jing’an and her father.
Shen Jing’an will express concern for Matchstick and Glut’s whereabouts and reveal their anxious waiting. Shen Yanping will urge you to convince Shen Jing’an to leave. Accept this responsibility.
Bring Matchstick’s and Glut’s tokens back to Shen Jing’an. Although the revelation will distress her, it will motivate her to leave, as she must accept that her friends are gone.
After an area reload, return to Shen Jing’an. She will invite you to join them in their journey. Firmly state that you have unfinished business before reloading the area again to receive the Butler Shen’s Armor Set, concluding this questline.
