WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers, an action game with Soulslike elements, was developed by Leenzee Games and published by 505 Games. Despite its moderate reception upon release last year, it didn’t completely disappoint fans of the genre. However, recent developments suggest that the studio’s primary development team is no longer intact, following the departure of its lead director.

Leadership Changes Lead to Team Dissolution

Reports from SavePoint Gaming and Eurogamer reveal that producer and director Xia Siyuan was dismissed during a significant leadership shake-up at Leenzee. Chinese media sources, including GamerSky, indicate that the new management aimed to shift the studio’s focus towards support roles, a direction that Siyuan opposed, ultimately leading to their exit.

Impact on the Core Development Team

It appears that Siyuan was not alone in their dissent—other key members of the development team for WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers also reportedly shared similar concerns and faced similar fates. While it remains unclear whether all core members were let go or reassigned within the company, the consensus suggests that the talented team behind the game is no longer functioning as it once did.

As of now, Leenzee Games has not issued an official statement regarding these developments. This lack of communication is disappointing, particularly considering the promise shown by the team in creating a game that, while not groundbreaking, was a respectable entry within the Soulslike genre.
