As players journey through the expansive narrative of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, they will encounter increasingly formidable adversaries. To effectively deal with this escalating challenge, it is crucial to enhance your weapon’s capabilities through upgrades.
During the majority of your playthrough, you will rely on Red Feathers for weapon enhancements. However, as you near the conclusion of the game, the dynamics shift, and you’ll be tasked with locating a rare item known as the Ancient Vermillion Chisel.
This elusive item is essential for elevating your weapon to a maximum of +10 Mastery, significantly boosting your combat prowess.
Acquiring the Ancient Vermillion Chisel in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers

Despite what its name suggests, players may assume that defeating the Vermillion Feathers is necessary to obtain the Ancient Vermillion Chisel. In reality, the item is not acquired by this means. Instead, you must conquer a distinct set of bosses.
To obtain the Ancient Vermillion Chisel, players must defeat The Reborn and the Dragon Emperor, who are faced in a single combat sequence. The Reborn serves as the initial phase, while the Dragon Emperor represents the second.
Upon vanquishing the Dragon Emperor, you will be rewarded with the Ancient Vermillion Chisel, and this victory also grants access to Bo Capital, the game’s ultimate and most challenging area.
Utilizing the Ancient Vermillion Chisel

Using the Ancient Vermillion Chisel is straightforward. Simply interact with any shrine, select the Impetus Repository, and navigate to the respective weapon node—either the Swift Blade or Strong Blade, depending on your weapon type.
By applying the Ancient Vermillion Chisel, your weapon will reach its maximum potential. Do note that an additional Lustrous Red Feather is required for this upgrade.
One significant advantage of the Ancient Vermillion Chisel is that it remains in your inventory after usage. This means you can utilize it on another weapon should you decide to alter your combat style. Furthermore, it permits the enhancement of multiple weapons to +10 Mastery, which is particularly beneficial for players advancing in New Game Plus without sacrificing their current progress.
Locating the Reborn and Dragon Emperor
As previously noted, defeating the Reborn and the Dragon Emperor is imperative for acquiring the Ancient Vermillion Chisel. However, locating these bosses can be a challenge. Here’s a guide to help you find them.
The Reborn and the Dragon Emperor become available only after you enter Worship’s Rise in Ruins, a later-game locale.
To find them, begin at the Shu Sanctum shrine and exit through the northern passage. Then follow these steps:
- Proceed past a large avian enemy and cross the bridge.
- Continue straight along the path until you reach a gate.
- Open the gate and traverse the courtyard to locate the Reverant Temple.
- Ascend to the highest level of the Reverent Temple and take the exit leading to the porch.
- Venture up the green hill to discover the Burning Cavern shrine.
- Keep climbing and navigate through the cave at the summit to confront the boss.
Now that you’re equipped with the knowledge to find the Reborn and the Dragon Emperor, it’s time to take them down and secure the Ancient Vermillion Chisel.
If you have been actively following Xuantangzi’s quest line up to this juncture, you can summon him to assist you in defeating these formidable foes.
