The Mistress of the Night serves as a formidable midgame boss in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, located at the conclusion of Cloudspire City. This boss is not only capable of executing typical attacks but also inflicts various debilitating status effects, including Corruption and Frostbite.
Although her attack patterns may not be as intricate as those of some other bosses within the game, the Mistress of the Night is known for her heavy-hitting capabilities, which can swiftly deplete your health. Therefore, it is crucial to come well-prepared for this encounter.
This guide aims to provide strategies for successfully defeating the Mistress of the Night in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers.
Locating Mistress of the Night
The Mistress of the Night can be found in the Snowfall Palace, situated in Cloudspire. Upon arriving at the Snowfall Palace Shrine, avoid the main staircase. Instead, head to the right of the stairs to uncover a hallway and an elevator.
Use the elevator to descend and follow the hallway until you reach a large room on your right. This room serves as the boss arena, so enter it with caution and prepare for battle against the Mistress of the Night.
Optimal Build for Mistress of the Night

Given that the Mistress of the Night frequently inflicts Corruption, it’s vital to develop a build that counters this effect effectively.
Additionally, since she is vulnerable to backstab attacks, selecting a weapon that excels at staggering enemies quickly will be advantageous. I recommend using the Axe for this purpose.

Mistress of the Night’s Attack Patterns

The Mistress of the Night exhibits a relatively straightforward moveset compared to other bosses thus far. However, her attacks can be difficult to predict and arrive in quick succession, making evasion challenging.
Attack |
Description |
---|---|
Vanishing Kick | Mistress of the Night surrounds herself in ice and disappears, reappearing near the player with a flurry of kicks. Evade to the side, maintaining about a second gap between some kicks. |
Punishing Kick | After lighting her cigar, the Mistress performs a powerful spinning kick. Dodge behind her to launch an attack. |
Corruption Orbs | By raising her purple lantern, the boss unleashes a barrage of Corruption orbs. Move diagonally toward the boss to avoid the orbs. If hit, consume Purple Camellia to mitigate Corruption buildup. |
Corruption Blast | When you approach too closely, she will slam her lantern, generating a damaging Corruption blast. Evade backwards to avoid the attack. |
Ice Breathe | The Mistress exhales a chilling breath direction towards you; this is the perfect moment to maneuver behind her and inflict damage. |
Series of Kicks | She launches a rapid succession of kicks; you’ll need to dodge four times in total during this attack. |
Dragon Summon | Mistress of the Night transforms into a dragon and lunges at the player five times, maintaining a two-second interval between lunges. Time your dodges carefully. |
Strategies to Defeat Mistress of the Night

As previously mentioned, it’s generally easy to flank the Mistress of the Night and attack her rear. Targeting her backside is an effective way to stagger her, which opens the door for an Obliterate Strike.
Your primary objective should be to maneuver behind the Mistress of the Night. Utilize diagonal dodges towards her while avoiding her Corruption orbs and kick combinations.
If you are struck by her Corruption attacks, make sure to use Purple Camellia to eliminate the buildup.
Once you are near her, employ a charged heavy attack aimed at her back to knock her down, allowing for an Obliterate Strike. Continue this strategy throughout the encounter.

When the Mistress transitions into her second form as a dragon, shift your focus entirely towards dodging her five lunges instead. Do not attack until she reverts to her human form.
If you can defeat her swiftly, she may not engage in her dragon transformation again.
Prior to entering the boss arena, remember to use Temperance and to activate Divine Might before landing an Obliterate Strike, as both enhance your damage output significantly.
I recommend unlocking the Temper node on the Impetus Repository to boost your total Temperance Charges. This will provide you with one at the fight’s outset and another during the combat.
Rewards for Defeating Mistress of the Night

Upon defeating the Mistress of the Night, players are rewarded with a significant amount of Red Mercury along with other valuable items. Here’s a list of the rewards you can expect:
- Research Journal – Scrap 1: Present this to He Youzai to assist him in uncovering more information.
- Shell Cup: Deliver this to Tao Qing to expand his inventory.
- Echo of Huang Yan (Feathering Spell): Summon a legion of insects that disperse in various directions, inflicting Feathering damage and causing Corruption buildup. Can activate [Alacrity] when struck during casting.
Of note is the Echo of Huang Yan spell, an excellent choice for those specializing in Feathering builds. Be aware that it requires four Skyborn Might slots, so make sure to unlock additional slots on the skill tree if necessary.
