In the immersive world of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, players will meet various characters, one of whom is Fang Yao. Like many other non-playable characters (NPCs) in the game, she comes with her unique questline that players can embark on. Engaging with her not only reveals her intriguing backstory but also expands on the game’s rich lore tied to one of the potent bosses.
Finding Fang Yao presents a challenge as she is situated behind a door that is initially locked. However, once players manage to locate her, they unlock narratives that deepen their understanding of the game’s universe.
Initiating Fang Yao’s Quest
To get started with Fang Yao’s quest, players should first journey to Cloudspire City. After lowering the bridge, Fang Yao can be found behind a door near the staircase that leads to the Cloudspire City shrine. Before you can speak to her, defeat the troll-like enemy guarding the door, which hurls Despair skulls at you.
Upon reaching the door, select the option to speak with Fang Yao. She expresses her fear to exit and requests your help in finding a loved one. Specifically, you need to locate the Shu Silk Scarf to advance her quest.
Acquiring the Shu Silk Scarf
To retrieve the Shu Silk Scarf, players must progress to Hillswatch after defeating Commander Honglan and securing the Revenant Temple key. Navigate through the tunnels until you reach the Hillswatch shrine.
Once there, head to the summit and continue past the nearby houses. Look for a path on your left leading to a small tombstone adorned with a blue glowing light.
Interacting with this stone reveals the inscription “The Tomb of the Apothecary; it seems you can investigate the loose mound of dirt.”Use the Examine gesture on the loose dirt to uncover the Shu Silk Scarf. After acquiring it, make your way back to Fang Yao at the closed door in Cloudspire City to hand over the scarf and continue her quest.
Encountering Fang Yao at the Shaft Entrance
After defeating the Mistress of the Night, players will find Fang Yao seated next to the Shaft Entrance shrine. Engage her in conversation to gain further insights and advance her storyline.
Fang Yao will recount a song she once shared with her sister, igniting the quest to confront the game’s next boss, the Perfect Bride—which is revealed to be her sister.
To locate the Perfect Bride, navigate through the Shaft Entrance to the Bride’s Boudoir area in Cloudspire. Eventually, you will encounter an elevator adjacent to a bridge, and crossing the bridge will lead you into a battle with the Perfect Bride.
Conquer the Perfect Bride
Before you can complete Fang Yao’s quest, defeating the Perfect Bride is essential. This boss presents a significant challenge, possibly requiring several attempts to overcome.
After successfully defeating the Perfect Bride, enter the dream at the shrine located in the boss arena to reset the area. In this dream state, locate Fang Yao sitting near the Wedding Hall Shrine and exhaust her dialogue to proceed.
Rewards for Completing Fang Yao’s Quest
Upon completing your conversation with Fang Yao near the Wedding Hall shrine, she rewards you with two exclusive items: Fang Yao’s Hairband and Fang Yao’s Light Gown. These unique armor pieces come with distinctive stats that bolster elemental defenses and resistances against various status effects.
