It seems that the world of Chinese Soulslike games has a recurring theme: the emergence of a spear-wielding, white-robed sage as a challenging secret boss. In the realm of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, this archetype manifests as Eternal Glory, presenting players with an intense and thrilling encounter that echoes similar battles found in Black Myth: Wukong against Erlang, the Sacred Divinity.
Eternal Glory, also known as Zhao Yun, stands as one of the most formidable bosses in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. To take him on, players must be at the peak of their capabilities, equipped with optimal builds. If you’re still acclimating to the combat mechanics, attempting to bring down this boss might prove to be an uphill battle.
Prepare yourself for a challenging encounter!
How to Locate Eternal Glory

To unlock the fight against Eternal Glory, players must diligently follow the White-Robed Elder’s questline, culminating in the endgame of Chapter 5. This stage necessitates conquering the Bo Capital region and preparing for the battle with Feathery Ambition.
The prerequisites for triggering Eternal Glory can be somewhat ambiguous. However, upon following the outlined steps, I successfully accessed this hidden boss. I cannot guarantee that variations in your approach won’t hinder your access to this encounter.
Eternal Glory awaits at the Tomb on Mt. Zhenwu, with Avian Dwelling serving as the nearest shrine for fast travel.
From the Avian Dwelling shrine, make a left turn, traverse the fallen log, and head past the two men crouching in fear. Slightly veer left to discover another wooden path with a bamboo shoot running nearby (if you haven’t collected it yet).
Continue along this path and enter the cave, which leads to a sprawling meadow adorned with white flowers.
Assuming you’ve completed the White-Robed Elder’s questline—defeated the Bo Sorcerer and received the Tigraliz Pendant—you will encounter him again at the arena’s end, where Eternal Glory will commence the battle by sipping from his gourd.
Essential Preparations for Eternal Glory

Facing Eternal Glory is an immense challenge, arguably surpassing the difficulty of Commander Honglan and her rematch in the Vermillion Feathers. Below is the build I utilized to conquer this formidable foe:
Weapon | Astral Blade |
---|---|
Armor | N/A |
N/A | |
N/A | |
N/A | |
Jade Pendants | Unknown Meat |
Sun Pendant | |
Kylin Pendant | |
Spells | Ethereal Form |
Crimson Edge Incantation | |
Echo of Honglan | |
Echo of Lu Bingzhang | |
Items | Manna Vase |
Temperance | |
Aurum Feather | |
Zhenwu Temple Elixir | |
Temperance Bone Needle | Magic |
Notable Impetus Repository Perks | Biding Time, Alacrity, Fury of the Skyborn, Unbroken Focus, Rapid Temperance, Energetic |
Eternal Glory wields Stab, Slashing, Fire, and Ice damage. I adopted a high-risk, high-reward strategy by opting for the Unknown Meat Pendant, which significantly boosted my damage output. However, this approach isn’t mandatory if you prefer a more traditional style.
Typically, I favor flexibility in my builds, but this time optimization is key. My focus in particular will be on a Magic build.

Despite regularly endorsing the longsword build, Eternal Glory stands as a unique challenge for such builds, exhibiting notable resistance to physical damage which made my attempts with the Lashing Whip fairly ineffective.
However, if melee combat is your preference, the longsword build remains viable with excellent dodging skills. For the purposes of this guide, we’ll primarily discuss the Magic build while including tips for other playstyles.
Be sure to maximize your Manna Capacity and Manna Potency while ideally reaching five Skyborn Stacks.

Additionally, equip Temperance, with an emphasis on enhancing Feathering and Spell damage using the Magic Bone Needle, along with the Stone needles that extend the duration and efficiency of Temperance.
Utilizing Aurum Feathers as consumables is beneficial due to their random buffs, which can enhance attributes such as max health, stamina, damage resistance, and overall damage output.
Your final consumable can be another healing item. However, I recommend accruing Plumed Branches through farming your Inner Demon.
To farm effectively, locate a nearby Shrine, fill your Madness gauge, and leap off a nearby ledge. Upon respawning, your Inner Demon will be close with a guaranteed Plumed Branch drop. Repeat this process to stock up, ideally securing three for each Eternal Glory attempt.

Don’t overlook your Jade Pendants as they significantly influence your Spell power and Feathering damage. Equip the Sun Pendant, along with the Crimson Pendant (or Kylin Pendant), and consider a Crane Pendant for additional benefits.
If you pursue a high-risk, high-reward strategy (armor-free), the Unknown Meat from defeating Feathery Ambition grants a notable 27% damage boost. Alternatively, you can utilize the Bravery Pendant for around a 30% damage increase when at full health.
When following a magic build, my weapon of choice remains a one-handed sword, prioritizing the skill tree with investments in Magic and Feathering, followed by Vitality and Endurance.

The one-handed sword, Astral Blade, excels in spellcasting. While Feathering spells will dominate your play style, the weapon’s spell power will enhance your overall damage output when combined with its passive effects triggered by Temperance.
Alternatively, the Plumed Grace weapon offers superb survivability, emphasizing Feathering, although it’s obtainable only after defeating Feathery Ambition. Choose whichever weapon suits your preference as both are capable within a magic build.
Importantly, the Astral Blade’s skill, Awakening Seal, grants extra Biding Time stacks while amplifying your spell power.
For players choosing the longsword strategy, avoid attempting to parry Eternal Glory’s strikes. His strength can easily bypass parries, relying on counterattacks for brief openings.

Once you lock on to your target, Echo of Lu Bingzhang possesses unlimited range, enabling you to attack foes from a distance.

On the other hand, the Echo of Honglan allows for rapid dashes and homing feathers that deliver powerful damage, though the recovery time might leave you vulnerable against Eternal Glory.
Your third spell slot can be filled with flexible choices; I recommend either Divine Ward for improved survival or Echo of Xuanyangzi for attack variety. While my experience with Echo of Xuanyangzi against Eternal Glory is limited, it proved valuable against smaller human bosses like Nightmare Demon.
Melee builds should utilize buff spells such as Divine Might or Echo of the Bo Magus for shields.

Regardless of your chosen build, Ethereal Form is an essential spell. This spell consumes just one stack of Skyborn Might and provides a three-second window during which you can evade attacks while also refunding the stack, or potentially more.
The powerful nature of Ethereal Form may lead to adjustments in future updates, so remain informed on any changes.

Keep in mind, however, Ethereal Form can sometimes limit your control over dodging direction. In battles against smaller foes, the smokescreen created by dodging may reduce visibility, complicating the assessment of enemy actions.
When selecting Benedictions, concentrate on effects that trigger upon gaining Skyborn Might. Consider the following options:
Oath | Bu – Skyborn Ward: Mitigates damage for a duration when activated. |
---|---|
Shi – Blood Ward: Reduces incoming damage temporarily after taking a hit. | |
Memory | Sheng – Skyborn Rejuvenation: Your attacks leech life for a short moment upon receiving Skyborn Might. |
Sheng – Lasting Alacrity: Prolongs the duration of damage avoidance triggered by Alacrity. | |
Wisdom | Wei – Skyborn Force: Boosts damage during Skyborn Might activation. |
Wei – Skyborn Magic: Increases your Spell damage for a time while using Skyborn Might. |
Notice the interchangeable Benedictions within each category, offering minimal variations in impact.
Understanding Eternal Glory’s Moveset
The Initial Phase

At the onset of the battle, Zhao Yun appears at the far end of the arena, sipping from his gourd before advancing toward you.
Once he’s within striking distance, he will lunge at you with his spear, initiating a grabbing attack.
His subsequent strikes become rapid and chaotic, featuring swift spear swipes and thrusts. He can also rotate with his spear multiple times, complicating melee engagements.
Additionally, he might overhead slam his spear, inflicting severe damage, and execute a ground attack that creates an explosive burst from the dirt.
Interestingly, Zhao Yun can leap into the air, launching one of two attacks: either summoning balls of flames that scorch the ground or thrusting his spear to generate a series of icy spikes.
He remains relentless, as most of his moves are not susceptible to stuns, making it challenging to find tactical openings. This chaotic assault only intensifies in the second phase.
The Second Phase
Upon reducing Eternal Glory to half health, he will conjure a sword in his offhand and swing it in a wide arc, causing extensive slashing damage.
In addition to the initial phase’s moveset, Zhao Yun now summons ghostly versions of his soldiers, mimicking his attack patterns post-spins.

He retains the ability to slash in all directions with his sword and, when at distance, can unleash waves of wind blades that travel impressively far. Keep on the move when he performs these attacks!
Defeating Eternal Glory: Your Strategy

Successfully overcoming Eternal Glory represents the pinnacle of combat skill in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. Nonetheless, I identified strategic techniques to improve your chances of victory using the game’s available resources.
Initially, maintain at least 50% Madness to activate Fury of the Skyborn, which reduces the cost of your Echo spells. A target of 90% Madness is optimal as it triggers Unbroken Focus, ensuring your Biding Time stacks don’t drop below three.
Preparation for this encounter is essential. Acquire a minimum of four stacks of Skyborn Might before engaging. You can farm these stacks or wait for them to fill naturally, or make use of a Plumed Branch.

Utilize your Magic Temperance before initiating the boss fight.Advance slightly until you can lock onto Eternal Glory, who might still be engaged in his slow intro action.

Next, begin launching Lu Bingzhang spears at Eternal Glory while gradually retreating. With lock-on, these spears achieve infinite range, enabling significant damage per strike if your Feathering damage is sufficiently high. Utilise Plumed Branches to replenish your Skyborn Might when necessary.
If managed efficiently, you can reduce his health by at least 40% before he manages to engage you direct.

Your primary form of survival will involve perfect dodging. However, constantly activating Ethereal Form is crucial, as it allows Zhao Yun’s attacks to refill your Skyborn Stacks quickly.

Continue dodging his strikes. His spear lunges and jumps create openings for your best spells, particularly Echo of Honglan. Timing this spell during his attack may trigger Alacrity, granting you crucial invincibility frames to evade subsequent strikes.

Rely on dodging and spellcasting, and eventually, you will reduce Eternal Glory to half health. Seize any opportunities when he is casting his wind moves or summoning soldiers to counterattack.
Maintain your distance from Eternal Glory to leverage your ranged spells, and with patience, even this fearsome adversary can be brought to his knees.
