Event Announcement: Plunderstorm Delay in World of Warcraft
- The Plunderstorm event has been postponed due to unforeseen technical difficulties.
- No revised schedule for the launch has yet been disclosed.
- While waiting, players can engage in other activities within World of Warcraft.
World of Warcraft has announced a delay in its highly anticipated Plunderstorm event, originally slated for January 14, 2025. The postponement stems from unexpected technical challenges that developers are currently addressing, leading to an extension of the originally planned maintenance period.
Introduced during the Dragonflight expansion, Plunderstorm is a pirate-themed battle royale mode that allows players to engage in thrilling combat while collecting unique rewards. Although World of Warcraft aims to launch Plunderstorm before the day concludes, it has not provided a specific timeframe for when players can dive into the action.
Expected Launch Timing for Plunderstorm
- The event is expected to go live before the end of January 14, pending resolution of the current issues.
In the meantime, World of Warcraft players can access the game’s standard servers. This enables them to complete their weeklies on Siren Isle, participate in the ongoing Turbulent Timeways event, or explore other quests available in The War Within.
The upcoming second iteration of the Plunderstorm event will feature enhancements, including the introduction of the Plunderstore and a new game event interface accessible while logged in to characters. The source of the current delays may be linked to these new features, but developers are optimistic about resolving the issues swiftly so players can enjoy the plundering experience.
While fans await the official launch of Plunderstorm, there is still something to look forward to: the new Twitch Drops associated with the event. Players who watch four hours of any World of Warcraft streamer on Twitch before February 4 at 10 AM PST can earn the Coward’s Azure Target back transmog. Interestingly, the streamer does not need to be actively playing Plunderstorm for viewers to qualify for the drop, allowing fans to start progressing toward this cosmetic reward without delay.
