World of Warcraft has unveiled exciting new content with the addition of the Blazing Royal Fire Hawk and the Golden Ashes of Al’ar mounts. Currently, these exclusive WoW mounts can only be attained through special promotions in China, where they serve as creatively modified versions of the Pureblood Fire Hawk and the Ashes of Al’ar—two of the game’s most prestigious and rare mounts.
This announcement follows the renewed collaboration between NetEase and Blizzard, which reinstated service for popular games like World of Warcraft, Diablo 4, and Overwatch 2 in China after a hiatus of over a year. The resurgence of World of Warcraft was celebrated in various ways, such as the unveiling of a Lighforged Gorehowl statue and the introduction of the innovative Xiao Liu pet, equipped with teleportation capabilities.

- Blazing Royal Fire Hawk
- Golden Ashes of Al’ar
The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk bears a striking resemblance to the Pureblood Fire Hawk, which players can earn from Ragnaros in the Firelands raid during WoW: Cataclysm. However, this new iteration features exquisite xiangyun, or “auspicious clouds,” that grace its wings. These symbols, recognized for representing peace, immortality, and prosperity, have roots in Chinese culture dating back over three millennia. The Golden Ashes of Al’ar, on the other hand, is a luxurious reimagining of the renowned Ashes of Al’ar, which drops from Kael’thas Sunstrider in The Burning Crusade’s The Eye raid. It also comes with a sleek black saddle and a poignant phrase connecting it to Kael’thas’ legacy: “The golden Al’ar, beloved pet of Kael’thas Sunstrider, proves that death is merely a setback.”
The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk can be earned through an event known as the Treasure Workshop, though further details about the event are yet to be disclosed. In contrast, players can acquire the Golden Ashes of Al’ar through Landro’s Loot Box, priced at ¥200 (approximately $27). Each loot box holds one of eight items, including prestigious mounts like the X-51 Nether Rocket X-TREME and the elusive Swift Spectral Tiger, which was previously available via the now-retired TCG. Additionally, there are options for players to collaborate in purchasing these loot boxes, unlocking extra rewards as they hit selected spending thresholds.
At present, there are no indications that the Blazing Royal Fire Hawk or Golden Ashes of Al’ar will be released beyond China. However, the possibility of an international launch remains open, leaving enthusiasts outside the region to appreciate these stunning mounts from a distance.
