The narrative of World of Warcraft: The War Within continues to unfold, with fresh developments on the horizon. Anticipation builds for Season 2, slated for launch in 2025, which is set to introduce a wealth of new endgame content, including an extension of the ongoing expansion’s storyline. Meanwhile, Patch 11.0.7 rolls out a series of new quest lines that pave the way for Patch 11.1, where players will delve into the Goblin capital, Undermine. Additionally, quests that complete the heartbreaking saga surrounding Dalaran’s devastation will soon be available, though not immediately upon the patch’s release.
Update as of January 7, 2025 by Paul Woodward: The recent campaign questline feels like a pivotal moment in the game’s timeline. Dalaran, long an iconic element of the Warcraft universe, faces an uncertain future following the events of The War Within. The Dalaran Epilogue questline acts as a fitting closure to its storied past, acknowledging its significance as a social hub during moments like Wrath of the Lich King and Legion.
Warning: Spoilers Ahead!
Initiating the Patch 11.1 Prologue
Unlike the Dalaran Epilogue, the Lingering Shadows campaign is readily available for players to engage with immediately. There’s no prerequisite to complete either the leveling campaign or the Level 80 campaign before diving in. However, players are advised to familiarize themselves with previous storylines to enrich their experience and avoid potential spoilers. The Lingering Shadows campaign consists of several captivating quests, including:
- Lingering Shadows
- Price of a Mission
- Standing in the Way
- No Breathing Room
- Together, Alone
- The Voice
- Ringing in the Deeps
- Good Help These Days

- Found Friends
After you complete the Found Friends quest, don’t forget to engage with Orweyna. Although her quest isn’t part of the main campaign, it sheds light on pivotal plot threads likely to emerge in future content for The War Within, or possibly in subsequent expansions under the World Soul Saga.
Launching the Dalaran Epilogue in World of Warcraft: The War Within

If you find Khadgar present, you’ll be free to begin the quest after January 7th. If he is absent, further campaign quests will need to be completed.
