World of Warcraft Brings Back Features Not Seen in 7 Years

The highly anticipated World of Warcraft expansion, Midnight, is currently being unveiled at Gamescom 2025. This expansion, first introduced at BlizzCon 2023 as part of the “Worldsoul Saga”trilogy, invites players to revisit the iconic region of Quel’Thalas, a location familiar to many since its debut in The Burning Crusade expansion.

Following its cinematic reveal at Opening Night Live, Blizzard has been conducting several developer panels during the event. These sessions are gradually disclosing new features and content that players can look forward to when Midnight launches in 2026. While player housing was already on the radar, additional exciting features have been confirmed, including some that have not been seen since Battle for Azeroth.

New Raids in Midnight: What to Expect

Midnight will introduce Season One, featuring three distinct raids with a total of nine bosses poised to challenge players:

  • The Voidspire: This thrilling six-boss raid takes you up a towering structure filled with formidable enemies and cosmic threats, culminating in intense battles against Dominus-Lord Averzian and Salhadaar.
  • The Dreamrift: Experience a unique single-boss raid that plunges you between the realm of dreams and harsh reality. Team up with the Shul’ka to confront a god that never should have existed and to vanquish horrific abominations.
  • March on Quel’Danas: This raid culminates with an epic storyline as the united elven tribes advance toward the legendary Sunwell Plateau.

Silvermoon City: A New Haven for All Factions

World of Warcraft Midnight's Capital City Will Be Silvermoon City

In a groundbreaking decision, the capital city for World of Warcraft: Midnight will be Silvermoon City, which is traditionally known as a city for the Horde. This development has sparked much discussion among players, particularly regarding its implications for Alliance players.

Welcome Back Delves and New Companions

Delves, which debuted in The World Within expansion, will make a comeback in Midnight. Players can look forward to a new companion, Valeera, as they embark on adventures in ten new Delves—some of which will even allow the use of ground mounts in outdoor arenas.

Players have welcomed Delves as a better alternative to the Torghast system introduced in Shadowlands, as they provide enjoyable challenges and meaningful rewards while allowing players to engage without feeling pressured by necessary content.

Dungeons Galore in Midnight

Midnight will also showcase eight new dungeons, each accessible at Mythic 0 difficulty from day one:

  • Windrunner Spire
  • Magister’s Terrace
  • Murder Row
  • Den of Nalorakk
  • Maisara Caverns
  • Blinding Vale
  • Nexus-Point Xenas
  • Voidscar Arena

Stay tuned for further updates on Midnight, including a systems panel hosted by Blizzard that will delve into new talents, enhancements for Demon Hunters, the innovative Prey system, improvements to the leveling experience, PVP content, and various quality-of-life updates.
