Recently, Daniil Medvedev shared his thoughts on his defeat to Jannik Sinner in the 2024 Miami Open semifinals.
Despite being primarily recognized as a hard court specialist, Medvedev has proven to be one of the most reliable players on the tour this season. In fact, he has made it to the semifinals in every single tournament he has participated in.
The 28-year-old arrived in Miami after coming in second place at Indian Wells. He easily defeated his opponents in his bracket and advanced to the semifinals without losing a single set.
Despite his best efforts, the Russian player faced a tough challenge against Jannik Sinner in the semi-finals and ultimately suffered a 6-1, 6-2 defeat. Medvedev displayed his sportsmanship by reflecting on his performance and commending Sinner’s flawless approach to their match.
“Yeah, the margins are small when you play someone like Jannik who is in great shape,”Medvedev said. “I needed to play my best, which I didn’t do. He played well, so, you know, not much more I can add. I needed to play better if I wanted to win and I didn’t manage to do it.”
