Streamlining Custom Table Insertion in Microsoft Word for Mobile
If you’ve attempted to add a custom table to your Word documents on mobile devices—whether Android or iOS—only to find it frustrating, you’re not alone. Many users have shared similar experiences, as noted by Microsoft. Previously, users had to go through the tedious process of creating a 3 x 3 table and then modifying its properties to customize rows and columns. This process was particularly cumbersome when using a small touchscreen.
What’s New in Custom Table Features
However, Microsoft has introduced a more efficient way to add tables for users on mobile devices. This new feature is rolling out for Android users with Build 16.0.18224.41005 or later and for iOS users on Version 2.89 (Build 24082417) or later. Please note that at present, the capability to create custom tables is not available for Android tablets or iPads.
How to Insert Custom Tables
To insert a custom table in your Word document, start by opening the relevant document. Tap to place your cursor where you wish to add the table. Following that, simply navigate to Insert > Table, select your desired number of rows and columns, and press Insert Table. After completing these steps, the table will be ready for you to fill in with your required data.
The Popularity of Tables in Word
According to Microsoft, users insert over one million tables into their documents each month using Word for Android and iOS, highlighting how vital this feature is for effective document creation.
