“With Diddy, I Experienced Various Aspects of Him”— Aubrey O’Day Alleges Rapper Groomed Her, Reflects on Early Days of ‘Making the Band’

In a recent guest appearance on the Crysis Queen podcast, singer and reality TV star Aubrey O’Day opened up about her experiences working with Sean Combs, also known as Diddy, during the production of the MTV reality series Making the Band in 2005. Although the episode has yet to be aired, the Daily Mail received an early insight into the conversation.

Aubrey O’Day revealed that Diddy, who served as the executive producer of the show, “groomed” her and attempted to manage her appearance when she was just 21 years old.

“With Diddy, I saw multiple… sides of him… But I don’t know who I was even talking to that was sober… there was always an element of something going on,” she shared, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Aubrey O’Day further claimed that Diddy’s “grooming” was part of his abusive behaviors, a pattern she recognized later when he allegedly “forbade” her from befriending a “very famous person.” The former member of Danity Kane indicated that Diddy had connections with this individual, and she later learned about the person’s negative experiences with the music mogul.

Examining Aubrey O’Day’s Recent Allegations Against Diddy

The Daily Mail highlighted Aubrey O’Day’s comments on Diddy from the unreleased episode of Renee Graziano’s podcast. She discussed her audition for Making the Band and how she became known as “the s*xy face one,” being singled out as the “looker of the band” by Combs.

“[Combs] is on camera saying how much he hates it, but he’s off-camera telling me all the ways I needed to be groomed properly, like down to my toenails,” Aubrey O’Day reportedly disclosed.

The Between Two Evils singer recounted an incident where she was sent out of the studio because Diddy discovered her toes weren’t “properly polished,” which made her realize how the “dynamics change” and the focus he put on her image, both on and off camera.

“After coming off of Diddy, there’s not many people you can go into a room with and get that type of high from… Grooming is a process, they don’t just abuse you on day one,” O’Day remarked.

O’Day explained how Combs ensured she felt “comfortable” before altering his behavior, likening his methods to “military” strategies that tear one down before rebuilding.

Additionally, Aubrey O’Day asserted that “there are many more victims” of the 54-year-old rapper, predicting they would soon share their stories as the ongoing federal case unfolds. She expressed that Diddy’s recent arrest signified “justice” for “women all over the world.”

Revisiting Aubrey O’Day’s Past Allegations Against Diddy

Prior to Sean Combs’ arrest, Aubrey O’Day appeared on the Off the Vine podcast, discussing how the lawsuit filed by Casandra “Cassie” Ventura against Diddy in November 2023 transformed her life. When host Kaitlyn Bristowe asked if she had come to terms with her past experiences, she admitted she was “nowhere near processing.”

“It’s all still very ongoing. Everything is. It’s very chaotic. It’s very emotional and stressful, and every day there’s a new little twist and turn. I can’t really talk about any of it right now,” Aubrey O’Day shared.

She further explained her desire to speak openly, expressing her frustration at being unable to do so due to an ongoing “investigation” and her struggle to process her “trauma.” At that time, she reiterated that she felt “groomed” on the sets of Making the Band and labeled the environment as “toxic.”

“I was so young and so many things were put on me. I was fired on national television for being overly raunchy and promiscuous. That’s actually like wrongful termination. That’s a lawsuit against a lot of people,” Aubrey clarified.

O’Day noted that she couldn’t “fight” back legally as the events were beyond the statute of limitations. She reflected on how, at the time, she felt unable to confide in anyone and “normalized a lot of wild-a*s s**t.” Nevertheless, she maintains hope that she will eventually share her story rather than “die with a bunch of secrets in me.”

In April 2024, Aubrey alleged that Diddy attempted to “silence” her by offering her publishing rights last year along with a non-disclosure agreement, which she declined.

Furthermore, last year, during her guest chat on the Call Her Daddy podcast, she stated that she was removed from Danity Kane in 2008 because of not adhering to expectations outside of her talent. She claimed this termination was unfair.

After Diddy’s arrest, Aubrey O’Day told TMZ that she had never anticipated this day would arrive but felt “validated” and “vindicated” now that it was finally occurring. She also utilized her Instagram Story to share an expose song from 2013 titled There’s No Escape, reportedly about Diddy.

Earlier this week, she expressed on social media that the prior week had been therapeutic and thanked those who provided her with a “safe space,” extending solidarity to others who felt “unprotected” yet wished to speak out.
