Microsoft Enhances Windows Photos App with AI Features
Microsoft is unveiling an exciting update for the Windows Photos app, now accessible through the Insider program. This latest enhancement introduces two innovative AI-driven functionalities: Relight, focusing on adjustable light settings, and an improved semantic search capability that allows users to query with natural language.
Transform Your Images with Relight
The Relight feature empowers users to manipulate lighting within their photos. This tool enables the setup of up to three individual light sources on a single image, providing the ability to customize aspects such as light color, focus point, brightness, and intensity. For quick adjustments, the Photos app includes built-in presets that users can apply with just a click, streamlining the editing process.
According to Microsoft, Relight not only enhances the artistic styling of your photos but also corrects inadequate lighting, resulting in a polished final image. Currently, this feature is exclusive to Windows Insiders utilizing Snapdragon-powered Copilot+ devices. However, Microsoft has assured users that support for AMD and Intel-based Copilot+ PCs will follow in the upcoming months.
Revolutionized Search Functionality
The second notable feature in this update is the revamped search tool, which utilizes semantic understanding. Users can now search for images using queries in natural language, such as “sunset at the beach”or “family outdoor fun.”The AI will interpret these requests to locate the most relevant images in the user’s collection. Expanded Features for Entra ID Users
Additionally, the update has broadened access to two existing features: Restyle Image and Image Creator, now available to users with Entra ID accounts. Restyle Image enables users to apply artistic styles to their photographs using AI, while Image Creator allows for the generation of images based on textual prompts, expanding creative possibilities.
