Microsoft Releases New Build Versions for Windows Insiders
This Monday, Microsoft introduced new updates for Windows Insiders in both the Dev and Beta Channels. The release includes Build 26200.5661
for the Dev Channel and Build 26120.4452
for the Beta Channel. These iterations bring two significant enhancements: a revamped home page for Recall and improved customization options for system indicator placements on the screen.
Introducing the New Recall Home Page
The updated Recall home page is designed to enhance user experience by offering more personalized content. This feature presents a curated display of your most recent activities, showcasing the last few snapshots and highlighting the top three applications and websites you interacted with over the past 24 hours. Below is a glimpse of what the new interface looks like:

Additionally, the redesigned Recall interface includes a new navigation bar on the left side, providing quick access to essential sections such as Home, Timeline, Feedback, and Settings.
Customization of On-Screen System Indicators
Another exciting feature in these builds is the ability to customize the display position of system indicators like brightness and volume. Users can now select whether these notifications appear in the top-left corner or the top-center of their screen. Adjusting this setting is simple: navigate to Settings > System > Notifications > Position of the onscreen pop-up.

Additional Features and Fixes
The latest builds also introduce several key changes and improvements:
- Start Menu:
- New configuration options have been added that allow administrators to set Start menu pins once, enabling users to customize their layout while retaining admin-provided pins.
- File Explorer:
- Microsoft is restarting the rollout of AI actions in File Explorer, which might have been temporarily unavailable in previous builds.
- Settings:
- The selected country or region can now be viewed under Settings > Time & language > Language & region.
Fixes Implemented in This Build
Several bugs have been fixed in this release:
- General:
- The issue causing the Windows Vista boot sound to play instead of the intended Windows 11 sound has been resolved.
- Fixed an error affecting the Reset your PC option under Settings > System > Recovery.
- Addressed a problem that led to certain KVM virtual machines failing to boot with an “UNSUPPORTED_PROCESSOR” message.
Additionally, the Dev build features an extra fix addressing bugchecks related to KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE for specific Insiders after upgrading to the latest Dev Channel builds.
Known Issues
There are still some known issues within the builds:
- General:
- After conducting a PC reset, your build version may inaccurately reflect as Build
26100
instead of Build26120
. However, this will not hinder your ability to receive future Beta Channel updates addressing this issue. - Some users may encounter a rollback with error code
0x80070005
during the update installation; a fix is under development.
- After conducting a PC reset, your build version may inaccurately reflect as Build
- Start Menu:
- Touch navigation may not function consistently, particularly the swipe-up gesture.
- Drag-and-drop between “All” and “Pinned” sections is limited, which affects user flexibility.
- There may be instances of duplicate entries appearing within folders on the Start menu.
- Xbox Controllers:
- Some Insiders are reporting bugchecks when using Xbox Controllers via Bluetooth. To resolve this, uninstall the driver through Device Manager by locating “oemXXX.inf (XboxGameControllerDriver.inf)” and right-clicking on it to remove.
- Click to Do (Preview):
- Insiders using AMD or Intel™-powered Copilot+ PCs may experience delays during intelligent text actions in Click to Do.
- File Explorer:
- Narrator scan mode may behave unexpectedly in the action result canvas window for Microsoft 365 files. Users can navigate using the Caps + Right key as a workaround.
- Widgets:
- Temporary limitations exist for pinning features in the new widgets board experience.
