Today, Microsoft has unveiled the latest update for Windows 11 Beta channel Insiders, featuring build number 22635.5015, identified as KB5052089. This build addresses a number of bugs, enhancing the functionality of critical components such as File Explorer, the Start Menu, and OneDrive.

Enhanced Input Options
Microsoft is testing a new experience aimed at increasing the visibility of the emoji and more panel in Windows 11, which now features a new system tray icon on the taskbar. This allows users to effortlessly engage with emojis, GIFs, and Kaomojis across various applications. Additionally, the WIN +.keyboard shortcut is prominently displayed on the emoji panel. Users can customize this new icon by right-clicking it to access taskbar settings.

Bug Fixes Being Implemented*
File Explorer Enhancements
The update enhances accessibility in File Explorer by adding improved text scaling options for various error and warning messages (found in Settings > Accessibility > Text size).
A fix has been implemented to prevent File Explorer Home from crashing, an issue that affected some Insiders in previous builds.
Window Management Improvements
An issue with the Snap Bar accidentally displaying corners on the closest side of the screen has been rectified.
Settings Correction
A bug causing inaccuracies in storage counts within Settings > System > About has been resolved.
Other Fixes
Addressed a problem for Insiders encountering issues with resuming OneDrive files, which often led to persistent spinning icons for the mouse.

Challenges with the Start Menu
Users may experience delays in app icons appearing in grid and category views post-app installation.
Right-clicking an app may briefly display the “Start settings” context menu before the expected app menu appears.
Apps related to Windows Tools are currently categorized into folders instead of appearing as a single application.
File Explorer Concerns
Efforts are ongoing to fix a delay causing File Explorer to take longer to close when using the X button, which may also affect other buttons in the title bar.
Updates to the Snipping Tool (version 11.2501.7.0)
A new update for Snipping Tool, which is being released to Windows Insiders across Beta and Release Preview Channels (alongside Canary and Dev Channels), now includes a trim feature! This allows users to edit screen recordings by adjusting the start and end times, helping to eliminate unwelcome snippets from videos.

To use this feature, simply record a new screen session with Snipping Tool, open the recording, and select the new Trim option at the top. You can then adjust your recording’s start and end times using the provided sliders. After selecting your preferred time points, click Apply to save or Cancel to discard your changes. You may return to the trim feature to make further adjustments as needed.
