Microsoft has unveiled a new Windows 11 build numbered 27729 for participants in the Windows Insider Program’s Canary Channel. This latest release introduces a new feature that allows users to configure the dedicated Copilot key found on certain Windows 11 devices and keyboards.
Below is the detailed changelog:
Enhancements and Modifications
[Settings]
The new build incorporates an option to customize the Copilot key. Users can set this key to launch a specific MSIX-packaged and signed application, ensuring it aligns with necessary security and privacy standards for user protection. Until an alternative option is chosen, the key will continue to bring up the Copilot app on devices where it is installed. This feature can be accessed via Settings > Personalization > Text Input. It is important to note that if your keyboard lacks a Copilot key, modifying this setting will not yield any results. Additional improvements to this functionality are anticipated in upcoming updates.
Bug Fixes
[General]
An issue affecting the launch of certain games, such as Microsoft Solitaire and Casual Games, has been resolved following the installation of Build 27718 and higher.
[Window Management]
A fix has been applied to address a problem that resulted in a black screen appearing briefly for some users upon using ALT + Tab.
[Additional Fixes]
An issue affecting BitLocker functionality for a small number of Insiders has been corrected in the last two builds.
Known Issues
[General]
- We are currently looking into reports from some Insiders who have experienced rollbacks (error code 0xc190010) while trying to install the latest Canary builds.
- [UPDATED] Certain Insiders utilizing older NVIDIA graphics cards (such as the GTX 970 or Quadro K620) are facing problems where their screens become stuck on black and unresponsive or showing errors with the GPUs in Device Manager. We are aware of this issue and are diligently seeking a solution. If you’re affected, you can access Windows Recovery (WinRE) to revert to the previous build and pause updates in Windows Update until a fix is released. If you paused updates with Build 27723, please un-pause and re-pause them to avoid updating to Build 27729, allowing you to remain on Build 27718 temporarily.
- [NEW] We are addressing an issue that has resulted in some Insiders encountering a bugcheck error labeled PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA since Build 27723.
[Input]
Efforts are underway to resolve a persistent issue preventing the Emoji Panel and Clipboard History from opening on several surfaces, including the Registry Editor.
