Enhancements in Windows 11: The New Peek Feature in PowerToys
Finder, the default file manager on macOS, comes equipped with several features that significantly enhance usability, particularly the “Quick Look”function. This tool allows users to preview files effortlessly by pressing the Spacebar, eliminating the need to open the corresponding application. How to Activate Peek with the Spacebar
While the default shortcut remains Ctrl + Space, the updated version of PowerToys provides the option to switch it to just the Spacebar, increasing convenience significantly. Previously, users could customize shortcuts, but the possibility of utilizing a single-key activation was lacking. To make the change, update PowerToys to version 0.95, and follow these steps:
- Navigate to Settings.
- Select File Management.
- Click on Peek.
- From the Activation method dropdown, choose Spacebar.
Preview Files with Ease
After setting up the Spacebar as your activation key, simply select a file in File Explorer and press the Spacebar to preview its contents. PowerToys Peek supports a wide variety of file formats; however, users should keep expectations in check. While standard files, like images and videos, typically load quickly, larger files may take additional time to open.
