This new capability will enable users to adjust the image resolution of their webcam. You will have the choice to either let Windows automatically select the optimal resolution or pick a preferred resolution and frame rate from a variety of available settings.

How to Enable the New Webcam Features

If you are using Windows 11 build 27744 or newer and have a webcam installed on your system, you can take advantage of this new feature using the ViVeTool application. Follow these steps:

  1. Download ViVeTool: Obtain the latest version from GitHub and extract the files into an easily accessible folder.
  2. Open Command Prompt: Run Command Prompt as an Administrator. Use the CD command to navigate to the folder where ViVeTool is located. For example, CD C:\Vive.
  3. Activate the Feature: Enter vivetool /enable /id:52142480 and hit Enter.
  4. Restart Your Computer: Reboot your system to apply the changes.

Accessing the New Webcam Settings

Once your system has restarted, navigate back to Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Cameras. Select your webcam, and click on “Edit.”You will find the new resolution options listed next to the “Media type”setting, situated below the recently added features that allow multiple applications to utilize the webcam simultaneously and a basic camera mode designed for troubleshooting.
