Microsoft Enhances Copilot Voice for All Users
Microsoft has recently rolled out its Copilot Voice feature, making it universally accessible to free users without restrictions. This latest enhancement to the Copilot app on Windows 11 aims to streamline user interaction, particularly for those who need quick verbal assistance from the digital assistant.
New Features in the Redesigned Copilot App
The Copilot app for Windows has undergone a significant redesign and is now a fully functioning native WinUI 3 application, recently updated to version 1.25024.100.0 for Windows Insiders. This update introduces a convenient method of engagement: by holding down Alt + Space
for two seconds, users can initiate a voice interaction with Copilot.
How to Use Copilot Voice
Upon activation, a compact user interface featuring a microphone icon appears, allowing users to speak directly to Copilot and receive almost instantaneous replies. To conclude your interaction, simply hit the Esc
key. The app is designed to automatically close after a short period of inactivity, enhancing overall efficiency.

Official Insights: Press to Talk Feature
As highlighted in a recent announcement, the “Press to Talk”feature allows users to communicate with Copilot through verbal commands without disrupting their ongoing tasks. Here are some key points:
Press to talk: Simply hold the
Alt + Spacebar
for 2 seconds to start speaking to Copilot. The conversation can be ended by pressingEsc
. If silence lasts several seconds, Copilot will automatically terminate the conversation, and the microphone icon will vanish once the interaction is complete.
Gradual Rollout and Feedback Request
While the Copilot version 1.25024.100.0 is available for all Insiders, the updated shortcuts and new UI for voice interaction will be implemented gradually. Microsoft encourages insiders to share their experiences using the feature by accessing the feedback option via Win + F
under the Apps > Copilot section.
