
New Windows 11 Beta Build Rolled Out for 23H2 Insiders
Microsoft has announced the release of a new Beta build for Windows 11, specifically aimed at version 23H2 insiders. This update introduces notable enhancements to File Explorer, corrects various issues related to the taskbar and lock screen, addresses bugs in Windows Sandbox, and more.
Gradual Improvements Implemented in the Beta Channel
[General Enhancements]
- This update brings a series of minor improvements and fixes designed to enhance the overall user experience for Insiders running this build.
- Fixes are progressively being deployed within the Beta Channel as a part of this update.*
[File Explorer Enhancements]
- Continuing our commitment to accessibility, this version expands text scaling support across various warning and error message dialogs. Users can access this feature through ‘Settings > Accessibility > Text size’.If any areas in File Explorer don’t respond, please provide feedback under Files, Folders, and Online Storage > File Explorer.
- Addressed a problem where a hung search indexer would result in File Explorer also freezing.
- Resolved an issue that left the date for files and folders in the Home section appearing blank.
- Improved the reliability of launching File Explorer by fixing a related issue.
[Taskbar Fixes]
- Corrected a bug that caused focus movement through taskbar icons to behave incorrectly when using Hebrew or Arabic as the display language with the key combination WIN + T followed by arrow key navigation.
[Input Improvements]
- Fixed an issue preventing voice typing initiation from the touch keyboard when utilizing the Chinese (Simplified) narrow layout.
[Login and Lock Screen Updates]
- The sign-in icon for web login has been slightly modified to ensure better visual consistency with other icons on the login screen.
[Windows Sandbox Enhancements]
- Resolved an issue that caused Windows Sandbox to fail to launch in preceding Beta builds, associated with error code 0x80072746.
Known Issues with the Current Build
[Start Menu Concerns]
Insiders testing the new grid and category views on the “All” page of the Start menu may encounter the following issues:
- There may be a noticeable delay in the display of app icons in grid and category views after an application is installed.
- Upon right-clicking an app, the “Start settings” context menu may briefly appear before the app’s context menu is displayed.
