Alongside the new build release in the Dev Channel, Microsoft has delivered an update for Insiders in the Beta Channel. The latest update, Build 22635.4291 (KB5043166), introduces enhancements to the Task Manager and Snipping Tool, along with various fixes and minor improvements.
Highlighted changes for Insiders in the Beta Channel with the “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” toggle enabled include:
[Task Manager]
- The Disconnect and Logoff dialogs in Task Manager have been redesigned to support dark mode and text scaling.
- The Performance section now identifies listed disks by their type.
[Settings]
- The Tailored Experiences feature has been rebranded to Personalized Offers during the Out-Of-Box Experience (OOBE). This new option can be accessed on the Recommendations and Offers page under Settings > Privacy & Security. With Personalized Offers, users can opt-out of allowing Windows to utilize information about their devices and usage patterns to enhance the operating system.
FIXES:
[General]
- Resolved several issues leading to explorer.exe crashes, including a particular issue causing intermittent crashes when using ALT + Tab in recent builds.
[Start Menu]
- Corrected a problem that caused the All apps list in the Start menu to malfunction when a letter was clicked or tapped.

This update addresses several issues:
- [Microsoft Defender for Endpoint] Work Folders files do not sync while Defender for Endpoint is enabled.
- [Outlook and encrypted email applications] This issue requires your PIN every time an encrypted email is opened.
- [Microsoft Edge] The browser may become unresponsive when using IE mode.
- [Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)] There is a discrepancy in data between TCP_INFO_v1 and GetPerTcpConnectionEstats, impacting the accuracy of performance analysis tools for file synchronization services.
- [Country and Operator Settings Asset] This update ensures COSA profiles are current for specific mobile operators.
- [Task Manager] The application may become unresponsive when switching from a high-contrast theme to a standard theme.
In addition, the Snipping Tool has been updated to allow users to change the default directories for screenshots and screen recordings:
Snipping Tool Update
A new update for Snipping Tool (version 11.2408.15.0 and newer) is being rolled out to Windows Insiders in the Beta and Release Preview Channels. This update enables users to modify the folder where original screenshots and screen recordings are automatically saved. Simply navigate to the app settings in Snipping Tool to select a new default folder and experience the change!
