February 2025 Non-Security Updates for Windows 11 Version 24H2
Microsoft has released the February 2025 non-security updates for Windows 11 version 24H2. Users of earlier versions of Windows 11 and those on Windows 10 can find relevant information via their respective articles. The latest update, KB5052093, designated with the build number 26100.3323, addresses numerous bugs affecting system functionality including errors in Task Manager, File Explorer, audio issues, and more.
Key Changes and Improvements Included in the Update
The following enhancements are being gradually rolled out to users:
- Task Manager: Corrected an issue where HDDs were misidentified as SSDs.
- Taskbar: New feature allows users to share files directly from the jump list accessible via right-click on certain applications.
- Windows Spotlight: Enhancements have been made to discover background image information more easily. Updates include a new icon color and background as well as changes in icon placement on the desktop.
- Lock Screen: Users can now more readily learn about the lock screen image by selecting the “Like” button.
- Narrator: Introduced improvements in scan mode functionality. New commands allow users to skip links, jump to list items, and navigate efficiently through lengthy texts. Mode activation requires turning on Narrator (Windows logo key + Ctrl + Enter) and enabling scan mode (Caps lock + Spacebar).

- New: Users can now snooze or disable the “Start backup” reminder in the address bar if they are not already backing up files. Options can be accessed by right-clicking on “Start backup.”
- Fixed: Enhanced loading performance for folders containing numerous media files and resolved issue where entered URLs might fail to direct properly.
- Fixed: Address bar overlapping files in full-screen mode (F11) and slow context menu openings for cloud files were improved.
- Search results will now display thumbnails for cloud files more consistently.
- HTML Help Viewer: Added text scaling support for better accessibility.
- Start Menu: Corrected color display issues when accessing the account management menu under mixed light and dark modes.
- Audio:
- Fixed volume surge to 100% upon waking the PC from sleep.
- Corrected repetitive mute and unmute sounds.
- Resolved issues with USB audio devices becoming unresponsive after a period of inactivity.
- Camera Enhancements:
- New multi-app camera feature allows simultaneous access for multiple applications, benefiting users with hearing disabilities.
- Introduced a basic camera mode for improved troubleshooting.
Additional Enhancements and Fixes
The following issues are also addressed in this update:
- Hyper-V: Error “Could not load file or assembly Newtonsoft. Json”during Quick Create has been fixed.
- Daylight Saving Time (DST): Support for DST changes in Paraguay has been added.
- Open Secure Shell (OpenSSH): Resolved service startup failures which interrupted SSH connections.
- Get Help App: Resolved opening failures in Windows Server 2025.
- Settings App: Fixed memory reference errors that caused it to stop functioning.
- Remote Desktop: Resolved rendering issues and improved stability during remote connections.
Known Issues
Some ongoing issues with KB5052093 are documented, including installation challenges for security updates on systems equipped with specific Citrix components, as well as complications with Roblox on PCs utilizing ARM processors. Microsoft is actively investigating these matters, which first surfaced with the launch of version 24H2 in October 2024.
