Microsoft has officially introduced the Windows 11 24H2 Release Preview Channel build 26100.2152, referenced as KB5044384, specifically for participants of the Windows Insider Preview program. This update features a range of enhancements that will be rolled out gradually, including a new feature that allows users to access mobile device content directly from the Start menu.

Below is the detailed changelog:

Gradual Rollout Overview

Some features and improvements may not be instantly available for all users, as they will be introduced progressively. Text highlighted in brackets indicates the specific area of modification.

[Start Menu] New Feature! This update enables users to access their mobile device content straight from the Start menu on their PC. You will be able to view your device’s battery level and connectivity status, check voice messages, review calls, and access photos, along with continuing recent activities from your device. Currently, this feature is limited to Android users already connected via Phone Link, with iOS support planned for a later release. To manage this, navigate to Settings > Personalization > Start.

[Notifications] New Feature! Users now have the ability to stop receiving prompts to disable notifications from specific apps. Simply click on the ellipsis (…) in the notification and toggle it off. Alternatively, you can access Settings > System > Notifications to disable it there as well. Look for “Notification Suggestions” among the senders listed. Items will only appear after you have received a related notification.

[Windows Sandbox Client Preview] New Feature! This update introduces the Windows Sandbox Client Preview, featuring runtime clipboard redirection, control of audio and video inputs, and the ability to share folders with the host during runtime. To utilize these options, select the ellipsis (…) in the upper-right corner of the app. This preview also includes command-line support, though commands may evolve over time. For further details, utilize the exe –help command, and find additional updates within the Microsoft Store.

[Virtual Hard Disk (VHD/VHDx)] New Feature! The update adds a button to detach virtual hard disks within Settings. For managing your VHD or VHDx properties, access Settings > System > Storage > Disks & Volumes.

[Wi-Fi Password Dialog] New Feature! The password dialog now features the updated Windows 11 aesthetic. To find this, visit Settings > Network & Internet.

Normal Rollout Overview

The following enhancements and features are being rolled out as part of this update. Text highlighted in brackets indicates the specific area of modification.

[Copilot Key Settings] New Feature! Users can now customize the Copilot key on their keyboard. For new devices, pressing this key will launch the Copilot app. If you log in using a Microsoft Entra ID, this key will access the M365 app. Users can also set the key to launch another app or the Search function. To adjust this, go to Settings > Personalization > Text Input. Note that only apps packaged in a signed MSIX format will be eligible to be opened by this key, ensuring compliance with security and privacy standards. If your keyboard lacks a Copilot key, changes to this setting will have no effect.

[User Interface (UI)] Fixed: Resolved an issue where certain parts of the UI were not visible when certain applications were running.

[HTML Applications (HTA)] Fixed: The optional components for HTA are now available in ARM64 Windows PE.

[Live Kernel Debug Files (Dumps)] Fixed: The win32kbase.sys no longer generates live kernel debug files unnecessarily.
