Windows 11 24H2 Build 26100.1876 Now Available for Insiders in the Release Preview Channel

Microsoft has announced the rollout of a new Windows 11 24H2 build for participants in the Windows Insider Preview program within the Release Preview channel. This update will introduce several features to users within the channel under standard deployment practices, while other features will be launched progressively and may not be immediately accessible to all Release Preview participants.

Gradual Rollout

  • [Start Menu] New! The “Sign out” function has been moved to the account manager accessible from the Start menu. To switch to a different user, click on the ellipses (…). A list of alternative users will be displayed for easier navigation.
  • [Taskbar] New! Users can now share local files directly from search results that appear in the Search box located on the taskbar.

[Settings]

  • New! The Delivery Optimization Settings page has been updated to align with the Windows 11 aesthetic. Navigate to Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Delivery Optimization to view the changes.
  • New! There is now an energy-saving recommendation to disable high dynamic range (HDR) to help conserve power on devices equipped with HDR displays. Access this feature via Settings > Power & battery > Energy recommendations.
  • [Lock Screen] New! Media controls will now be prominently displayed in the center lower portion of the lock screen when media is in playback.
  • [Battery Life] New! A notification will prompt users to connect their device to a power source when the battery level drops to 20% while Energy Saver is set to “Always On.”

Normal Rollout

  • [Open Source Software] This update includes attributions in credits.txt files for Rust open-source software components.
  • [Input Method Editor (IME)] A memory leak may occur when a combo box has input focus and that window is closed.
  • [WebView2 Apps] These applications currently do not register input from Xbox 360 and Bluetooth controllers.
