Suggested Workarounds

After applying this update, users may encounter difficulties when attempting to change their user account profile image.

When trying to update their profile picture via Start > Settings > Accounts > Your Info and clicking on Browse for one under Create your picture, an error message may appear, displaying error code 0x80070520.

Microsoft is currently developing a fix and plans to include it in a future update.

Users with a dual-boot configuration for Windows and Linux may experience boot issues following the installation of this security update. The specific error message is: “SBAT self-check failed: Security Policy Violation.”

The August 2024 update introduced a Secure Boot Advanced Targeting (SBAT) setting designed to prevent the use of outdated, vulnerable boot managers. Unfortunately, this SBAT restriction may not have been correctly identified on certain custom dual-boot setups.

For guidance on resolving this issue, please consult the workaround available on the Windows release health site.
