Warning: SPOILERS ahead for Will Trent season 3, episode 2!

Exciting Developments Ahead in Will Trent Season 3

Will Trent star Ramón Rodríguez has revealed that viewers can expect significant developments in both the investigative cases and personal lives of the characters as the show progresses into its third season. Following its premiere, season 3 has already showcased a thrilling introductory case that engaged the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) team across two episodes. Adding to the drama, the strained dynamic between Will (Rodríguez) and Angie (Erika Christensen)—stemming from his decision to arrest her in the conclusion of season 2—hints at turbulent episodes waiting in the wings.

Anticipated Changes in Will’s Life and Work

In a recent interview with Collider, Rodríguez delved into the significant life transformations awaiting Will in season 3, emphasizing the evolving relationship with Angie as a focal point. He also mentioned that viewers can expect to see more multi-part cases similar to the initial episodes of the season, which suggests an escalation of stakes and involvement from compelling guest stars. Here’s what Rodríguez had to share:

We’re in the middle of filming right now. We’re past the halfway point. There are some really difficult things coming up for Will that are new things that we’ve never seen, that end up changing him potentially forever. It’s exciting that we’re still finding new things that get us excited, as actors and creators, but the writers have just continually stepped up. We wanna just keep finding new plot twists and interesting things. Where the Angie-Will story goes is gonna be really interesting for people. What we do a lot of, throughout the season, which I’m very excited about as well, is that we do cases that go on beyond just one episode. That’s great because you get more invested. It also means we get to have a great guest cast. I feel like our guest cast this season has been incredible. The folks that we’ve had come in and play with us in certain roles have been really, really wonderful, and that’s something that you get to do when it’s not just case of the week.

Upcoming Relationship Dynamics

In an intriguing twist, it has been reported that Will and Angie will have a pivotal reunion in season 3, episode 4. This conversation is expected to address their tumultuous past and may lead to the dissolution of their long-standing romance. Marion Alba, portrayed by Gina Rodriguez, seems poised to become Will’s next love interest. Meanwhile, Angie’s own romantic journey will progress as she encounters Dr. Seth McDale (Scott Foley) in season 3, episode 8. These evolving relationships signify a major shift in the show’s trajectory as it delves deeper into character development.

The Show’s Transformation: From Procedural to Character-Driven Narrative

Season 3 is setting a precedent for Will Trent by managing more complex cases and introducing substantial personal transformations for Will himself. The shift towards longer story arcs promises to engage the audience on a deeper level, breaking from the traditional episodic procedural mold. With these comprehensive storylines, the show has the opportunity to intertwine its character-driven narratives more intricately with the investigative plotlines, enhancing its uniqueness within the genre.
