Will Jason Kelce run for Governor of Pennsylvania? Arnold Schwarzenegger gives advice to Eagles icon
Jason Kelce’s recent retirement from the NFL has given him the opportunity to have more free time. As a six-time All-Pro center for the Philadelphia Eagles over a span of 13 seasons, he can now devote more time to his young family and explore new opportunities in his post-playing career.
Despite Arnold Schwarzenegger’s suggestion for the seven-time Pro Bowler to pursue a career in public service by running for Pennsylvania’s gubernatorial seat, Jason Kelce currently has other plans for his career that do not involve running for governor. However, he was deeply moved by Schwarzenegger’s words.
During his appearance on the “New Heights”podcast on Wednesday, the veteran actor shared the following statement:
“Forget the mayor. You go for governor. And then President. You’re born here.”
Despite his success in the entertainment industry, Schwarzenegger’s credibility also extends to politics. This was evident on Nov. 17, 2003, when he won a recall election and became California’s 38th governor, filling the remainder of Gray Davis’s term.
Despite winning a second term in 2006 and serving his full term until 2011, the Austrian-born politician was unable to run for President of the United States due to not being a natural-born American citizen. In September 1983, he became a naturalized US citizen.
At the same time, Schwarzenegger offered Jason Kelce valuable advice on the essential qualities needed to be a successful public servant.
“It has to be in his heart. That’s right. Yeah. Maybe he has the right combination. He has the most important thing, and number one is name recognition. So, of course, he has that.
“So, then the second most important thing is, you have to be passionate. You have to really say, I see myself as the governor like I did. I saw myself as the governor. And I was absolutely convinced that I could do a better job than the politicians did.”
The actor known for his role in “Terminator”was confident that the winner of Super Bowl 52 could also succeed in an election.
“And so, it depends, you know, if you are into the public service thing or not.
“If you are, of course, you can win because you’re an imposing figure. You speak really well. You’re very clear. And all you have to do now is then this just convince the people, I’m the man.”
Jason Kelce shares his thoughts on Arnold Schwarzenegger’s motivational message
Despite receiving the support of seven-time Mr. Olympia winner, the potential political bid of Jason Kelce was declined by the former Philadelphia Eagles center.
“No. … Don’t get me pumped up right now to go do this. I’ve got a clear vision of my career right now.”
Jason Kelce’s potential post-playing career could potentially involve a position on an NFL broadcast team. As reported by Front Office Sports on Mar. 7, Kelce has already held meetings with both Fox Sports and ESPN to explore opportunities as an NFL TV analyst.
Despite the potential financial opportunities, “New Heights”continues to be recognized as one of the leading sports podcasts worldwide. According to Multitude’s head of development Eric Silver, the platform’s widespread appeal could potentially result in a lucrative $100 million deal for both the host and Travis Kelce. This was mentioned in a Mar. 4 article by Weston Blasi from MarketWatch.
