Why Minecraft Players Find Vexes to Be the Most Annoying Mob
Minecraft is home to a diverse range of mobs, some of which are incredibly beneficial, while others tend to be less valuable or outright hostile. Among these creatures, one particular mob has caused frustration for many players: the vex.
A Reddit user, u/No_Cabinet_1315, sparked a conversation on the Minecraft subreddit debating the vex mob, declaring it to be the most bothersome creature in the game. Their reasoning stems from the vex’s ability to seamlessly traverse through walls brandishing iron swords, coupled with a notably small hitbox that makes them tough to hit.

In response, fellow Redditor u/FPSCanarussia pointed out that the vex does have one redeeming quality: they are not standalone creatures but instead summoned by the Evoker mob. This characteristic offers a small relief, as independent vexes would significantly complicate encounters.

Another user, u/lance_the_fa***s, suggested that it would be preferable if vexes simply perished when the evoker that summoned them was defeated. Unfortunately, that is not the case, and players are forced to hunt down each vex individually, often while they’re soaring overhead.

User u/TotemRiolu echoed the sentiment that vexes should expire following the defeat of their summoner, as it is the summoning magic that sustains them. User u/WrongEinstein concurred and recounted various instances of getting killed by vexes, even after taking down the evoker.
User u/KraftKapitain remarked that if vexes weren’t able to phase through walls, defeating them would be much simpler. In contrast, u/adderthesnakegal claimed their attacks feel as if they bypass armor, inflicting extra damage. Meanwhile, user u/UnSCo expressed interest in having the power to summon their own vexes.
User u/KingMGold took a different viewpoint, acknowledging that while vexes are indeed troublesome, they pale in comparison to phantom mobs. The original poster countered by noting that phantoms have larger hitboxes, can’t move through walls, and deal less damage, making vexes even more aggravating.
Upcoming Mobs in Minecraft
Players are abuzz with anticipation, as Mojang Studios prepares to introduce a new mob alongside a fresh biome. The Creaking mob will debut within the Pale Garden biome during the upcoming Winter Drop update. This development has sparked conversations among players about the potential for revisions to existing mobs, such as the Phantom and Vex, to enhance their gameplay experience.
Recent snapshots reveal that the developers have made notable improvements to minecarts, making them quicker and more functional. This gives hope that Mojang Studios may also prioritize enhancements to other long-neglected game features.
