When it comes to outspoken comedians, Bill Burr stands out as a force to be reckoned with. After his verbal run-in with Ben Shapiro, now he has set his sights on Elon Musk.
Burr is currently making waves with his new Hulu comedy special, Drop Dead Years, and has been ramping up promotion for the show. This promotional tour even landed him on NPR’s Fresh Air, where he didn’t hold back while expressing his candid opinions about Musk.
“I’m trying to get regular people to stop yelling at each other and realize that it’s a select few group of nerds eating raw almonds and doing their stupid workouts and competing with each other to have the biggest infinity pool and the rest of us are getting pushed down, ” Burr stated.“They’ve politicized the whole stupid thing and we’re falling for it.” His remarks resonate with a growing sentiment among those who feel disillusioned by the socio-political landscape.
Burr directly referenced Musk during his critique, notably touching on the controversial gesture Musk made at President Trump’s inauguration, which many interpreted as resembling a Nazi salute from the Third Reich.
“I just refuse to believe it was an accidental two-time Sieg Heil. And he does it at a presidential inauguration!” Burr argued. He further criticized liberals, saying, “Liberals have no teeth whatsoever. They just go, ‘Oh my God, can you believe this? I’m getting out of the country!’ I’m just like, you’re gonna leave the country because of one guy with dyed hair plugs and a laminated face? Who makes a bad car and has an obsolete social media platform? Why doesn’t he leave? Why are we so afraid of this guy who can’t fight his way out of a wet paper bag?”
Bill Burr’s Unfiltered Commentary
Recently, Burr stirred attention for challenging Ben Shapiro, a right-wing commentator and failed screenwriter. Shapiro claimed Burr had adopted a “woke” stance, which clearly wasn’t a wise move against the seasoned comedian.
In truth, it is refreshing to see comedy evolve in this direction. Burr exemplifies what good comedians should do: challenge the status quo by addressing powerful figures like Musk.
It’s important to note that none of us voted for Musk, and yet he seems to exert considerable influence over our government without any democratic mandate. As Americans, we must have the courage to call such issues out, particularly with Musk allegedly undermining governmental systems without public consent.
Burr’s remarks on Musk and Shapiro instill a sense of hope, showcasing that comedians are still willing to address the current challenges head-on. In a world littered with absurdities, it is reassuring to know that voices like Burr’s remain unfiltered, ready to highlight truths—including the notion that Musk is no formidable opponent.
