In the final match, Danielle Collins stunned fourth seed Elena Rybakina to claim the first WTA 1000 title of her career and complete her remarkable journey at the 2024 Miami Open.
Collins began her campaign in the first round against fellow countrywoman Bernarda Pera, where she bounced back from a one-set disadvantage to secure a 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 victory. Going head-to-head with 19th seed Sorana Cirstea in the fourth round, Collins delivered a dominant performance, securing a 6-3, 6-2 victory. She continued her impressive form in the quarterfinals against 23rd seed Caroline Garcia, effortlessly winning 6-3, 6-2.
