It appears that the journey of our beloved supernatural hunters is drawing to a close—at least in terms of streaming availability.
Supernatural is set to depart from Netflix, and while I often find myself lamenting “the end of an era, ”this one genuinely resonates. Having graced Netflix since 2011, many fans have become reliant on having the show’s iconic episodes readily accessible.
When Will ‘Supernatural’ Exit Netflix?
So, when exactly will it be leaving? As reported by What’s On Netflix, the beloved series will exit the platform on December 18, 2025. This is largely due to the cessation of The CW’s agreement with Netflix, which allowed their shows to remain on the service for five years following their final episode. With Supernatural concluding after 15 successful seasons, this contract made a considerable impact. However, with December marking the five-year anniversary since the series finale aired, its streaming tenure is officially coming to an end—much like how the cosmos tired of Sam and Dean’s relentless cycle of demise and resurrection.
At this point, there’s no clarity on where Supernatural might stream after its departure from Netflix. It’s possible that The CW could negotiate a new distribution deal, particularly given the show’s substantial binge-watching appeal. Yet, until further information emerges, its streaming future remains uncertain.
Considering the show’s immense popularity across various platforms, it would be unexpected if another streaming service did not quickly acquire it. Additionally, finding a new home might actually benefit viewers, especially since the iconic music from its first season was not licensed for Netflix. Longtime fans can attest that the audio backdrop plays a pivotal role in the show’s storytelling, and it would truly enhance the viewing experience to enjoy it in its original context.
Until the impending exit, there remains ample opportunity to binge-watch Supernatural on Netflix. Speaking of which, it has been a while since I last revisited the series… time to queue up the first episode!
