Danielle Peazer, known for her dancing career and as the former partner of Liam Payne, has recently shared her feelings regarding the tragic passing of the One Direction singer at 31. On Saturday, October 19, she took to Instagram to express her sorrow, revealing that she has been processing the shocking news in the days following his death.
Danielle candidly admitted that she is currently not “mentally strong enough to confront the reality of what has happened.”
“In time I will share more, but right now I don’t feel mentally strong enough to confront the reality of what’s occurred,”Danielle expressed.
In case you’re unfamiliar, Danielle Peazer and the British singer were in a relationship from 2010 to late 2012. Reports from People magazine indicated that after being seen together at Elf on Broadway with friends in December 2012, rumors of a rekindled romance began to circulate. However, by early 2013, their relationship officially came to an end.

Danielle first crossed paths with Liam Payne during a 2010 audition for The X Factor, where she was a background dancer and he was a contestant. At that time, she was 22 years old, while Liam was just 17. By April 2011, Danielle publicly acknowledged their relationship on X, and in 2012, they were seen together at the V Festival.
Danielle returned to the UK to participate in the ‘Enfield 5k Race for Life,’ but rumors of their breakup emerged in September 2012, which Liam later confirmed.
As reported by The Mirror, their separation occurred largely because maintaining their relationship became challenging with Liam’s extensive work commitments. However, they briefly reunited in late 2012, even adopting a puppy named Loki. Ultimately, they ended their relationship for good in May 2013.
In a February 1, 2016 interview with Mirror Celeb, Danielle shared that she and Liam remained friends post-breakup. She noted:
“We’re definitely on good terms as it’s been three years since we split up. We’re both over it, and we won’t sit around criticizing each other, but it is what it is.”
Danielle continued by stating:
“We still support one another. It’s nice. We had a wonderful time together, and we’re both happy to uplift each other, so all is good for now.”
As for her perspective on Liam’s relationship with Cheryl Cole, Danielle expressed her thoughts in a Cosmopolitan interview on July 20, 2016. She remarked:
“Love is love. Happiness is happiness. You just want the best for others. They both look happy, and although I don’t know her, I’m glad for them. It didn’t surprise me when their connection was revealed as they’re in the same field.”
Reports from Metro highlighted that Danielle and Liam were spotted leaving a hotel party together on June 16, 2022, around 3 AM, but neither party commented on the sighting.
Now, two years later, Danielle has once again spoken out amidst her ex-boyfriend’s tragic passing, referring to it as a “heartbreaking time”and noting how hurtful comments from internet users have added to her difficulty in coping.
She concluded her Instagram post with these words:
“I will return when I’m ready, but until then, please take care of one another.”
Expressing her gratitude, Danielle thanked Liam’s fans for their support, stating:
“Thank you to everyone who has reached out with calls, texts, or DMs offering condolences and support. Your kindness has meant more than you know.”
Currently, Danielle shares her life with her partner Sonny Jay, a former Capital Radio DJ, and they welcomed their daughter Mia in May 2024. She joyfully announced this news on Instagram on May 12 by sharing a heartwarming video of their baby.
