The series is directed by Park Sang-woo, acclaimed for his visually arresting work in The Forbidden Marriage. He collaborates with co-director Wi Deuk-gyu and writer Kim Ji-woon, known for their expertise in creating captivating narratives and compelling character arcs in dramas such as Melancholia and Doctor John.

In the drama When The Phone Rings, Yoo Yeon-seok takes on the role of Baek Sa-eon, a character hailing from a distinguished family with notable career achievements. Baek Sa-eon, a former war correspondent and hostage negotiator, now serves as the youngest presidential spokesperson, holding a prominent position in society.
Although Baek Sa-eon appears to lead a flawless public life, he struggles with a detached marriage to Hong Hee-joo, portrayed by Chae Soo-bin, in a relationship that prioritizes public image over genuine connection.
Chae Soo-bin plays Hong Hee-joo, a mute sign language interpreter married to Baek Sa-eon. A kidnapping event forces the couple to reassess their troubled marriage, thrusting Hong Hee-joo into a life-changing spotlight. Heo Nam-joon portrays Ji Sang-woo, a psychiatrist and popular mystery YouTuber, whose obsession with unraveling unsolved mysteries leads him into perilous circumstances.
Completing the ensemble cast in When The Phone Rings is Jang Gyu-ri as Na Yu-ri, a talented broadcast announcer at the same station as Baek Sa-eon. Na Yu-ri admires Baek Sa-eon, unaware of his wife, Hong Hee-joo’s, role as her sign language interpreter during news segments.

Chae Soo-bin gained fame from her role in Love in the Moonlight and has since starred in leading roles in dramas including The Rebel, Strongest Deliveryman, I’m Not a Robot, and Rookie Cops. She is currently working on the drama Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint.
Heo Nam-joon, who is represented by Initial Entertainment, made his acting debut in The First Shot and has appeared in projects such as Missing: The Other Side, Sweet Home 3, and Your Honor this year. Jang Gyu-ri is well-known for her role in It’s Okay to Not Be Okay and has featured in The Player 2, Pyramid Game, and Flex X Cop.
