When Laura Sanko’s “dump truck” comment left Norma Dumont’s DMs flooded with “w**kers”: “I tried to avoid it in every way”
Despite the unexpected surge in her social media following, UFC women’s fighter Norma Dumont is not exactly pleased with the nature of the attention she has been receiving.
Dumont’s surge in popularity on the internet can be traced back to the “dump truck”comment made by UFC commentator Laura Sanko during Dumont’s weigh-in for her 2022 match against Danyelle Wolf. Sanko’s positive comments about Dumont’s physical appearance gained widespread attention, leading to an increase in unsolicited messages.
Sanko’s comment on Norma Dumont is worth checking out.
Last year, during an interview with AG Fight, Durmont commented on the sudden increase in his following and the unsettling direct messages he was receiving.
“I don’t know what happens to my Instagram that attracts so many of these. There are a lot of w**ker on my Instagram, right? I don’t know where they come from because I’m not a person who posts many intimate stuff. I really don’t have too many posts like that. But they were always there.”
Continuing her remarks on the weigh-in incident, she added:
“Think it helped, I think so, because I see many of them posting the same. [My butt] is a. truck, like a truck, trailer truck, I don’t know. A truck they made in the U.S. And yes, after her comment, a lot of these… there is a video on YouTube that has many views everywhere. I tried to avoid it in every way, but there’s no way. The video is out there. At least once a week someone tags me in this video again. So yes, there are people who come by because of her comment. Originated a meme that is circulating.”

UFC Vegas 90: Norma Dumont returns to face former champion
Despite her previous experience in the octagon, Norma Dumont is preparing for a difficult matchup. She is scheduled to face Germaine de Randamie, the inaugural UFC women’s featherweight champion, at UFC Vegas 90 on April 6 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The two opponents will meet in a bantamweight bout, with both fighters weighing in at 135 pounds.
Dumont, who is currently ranked No. 11 in the bantamweight division, has been on a winning streak. In 2023, she secured two victories, bringing her total winning streak to three after defeating Danyelle Wolf, Karol Rosa, and Chelsea Chandler. This upcoming fight will mark the first time the 33-year-old will face a former UFC champion.
Meanwhile, De Randamie is making her return after a prolonged absence. Despite initially planning to come back towards the end of 2023, her plans were derailed due to giving birth to her son in March 2023. This upcoming fight will mark her first appearance since her submission victory against Julianna Peña in October 2020.
Despite a title fight loss to then-champion Amanda Nunes, de Randamie’s impressive victory earned her a ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus. She was set to face Irene Aldana a year later, but had to withdraw due to injury.
