The initial trio of episodes from the sixth season of What We Do in the Shadows premiered on FX on October 21, 2024. Following this, the fourth episode, known as The Railroad, made its debut on October 28, 2024.
The narrative kicks off with Jerry and the Guide aiming to instruct the Staten Island vampires on how to seize new territories and exert their influence. Surprisingly, the vampires appear indifferent to Jerry’s grand aspirations, choosing instead to delight in their daily pleasures.
Episode 4 of What We Do in the Shadows season 6 prominently features Guillermo’s escalating success in the corporate realm. Concurrently, Nandor finds himself in trouble after annoying their boss at work. Consequently, by the episode’s end, it falls upon Guillermo to let Nandor go at the boss’s directive. Unsurprisingly, this revelation hits Nandor hard.
The climactic conclusion of What We Do in the Shadows season 6 episode 4: Guillermo dismisses Nandor
As the episode unfolds, Jordan, Guillermo’s superior at Cannon Capital Strategies, reveals that the company has just taken over a new acquisition. Guillermo has effectively positioned himself as a key player within the firm, propelled by the support of Nadja and Nandor.
Jordan openly expresses his admiration for Guillermo but is far less impressed by Nandor, who is reluctantly filling a janitorial role at the office. Nandor’s tendency to engage in lengthy conversations with Jordan during their encounters ends up being a significant issue.
Consequently, Jordan instructs Guillermo to terminate Nandor’s employment, though Guillermo hesitates, opting to advise Nandor to “blend into the background”instead.
Nandor, under the guise of Andy, takes this advice too literally, opting to turn his back to people in an earnest attempt to go unnoticed. This scene becomes one of the humorous highlights of the episode.
A serious turn of events
Despite Nandor’s genuine efforts to adjust his behavior, Jordan remains relentless. He frequently instructs Guillermo to let Nandor go whenever their paths cross.
Guillermo enjoys newfound favor with Jordan due to his collaborative efforts with Nadja and Nandor, but he is unwilling to risk this career advancement. Eventually, after much inner conflict, he breaks the news to Nandor about his dismissal.
Nandor takes the news in stride, addressing the camera crew and insisting that he will prioritize Guillermo’s best interests. However, it quickly becomes evident that he is not as composed as he seems, expressing:
“Guillermo, he’s like a fledgling bird searching for his first meal. He has to prove himself. So, no, I’m not humiliated by being fired by my… by my previous…”
He then succumbs to emotion.
Introducing Sean and his motivations
In the early moments of episode 4, Laszlo and Colin again engage in their attempts to reanimate corpses when their neighbor Sean disrupts their elaborate experiment.
Sean reveals that he has recently been let go from his job and is seeking new employment. Previously, to cover their unusual activities, Laszlo had fabricated a story about them all working at the railway. Now, however, Sean is eager to land a similar position, but the office that Laszlo fabricated does not exist.
Despite his quirks, Laszlo is a devoted friend. He constructs a mock office, hires actors to play the roles of employees, and sets up a phony job interview for Sean. The interviewer? The latest creature that Laszlo and Colin resurrected.
Sean successfully impresses the monster, who ends up offering him the non-existent position of Vice President, even going against direct orders. Thus, in an effort to maintain his friendship, Laszlo has granted Sean an imaginary employment opportunity at a fictional company.
Nadja’s Twilight
In season 6 of What We Do in the Shadows, Nadja, along with Nandor and Guillermo, has also taken on roles at Cannon Capital Strategies.
However, Nadja is not merely a passive employee; she has ambitions of her own. Upon discovering that Laszlo has set Sean up with a fictitious job, she cleverly orchestrates Cannon’s acquisition of the office that Laszlo and Colin fabricated for the interview.
Thanks to Nadja’s cunning, Cannon successfully purchases the office space, converting a playful ruse into a lucrative business venture for the vampires.
The next episode of What We Do in the Shadows season 6 is set to air on November 4, 2024.
