What Happens to Guillermo in the Season 6 Premiere of What We Do in the Shadows? Ending Explained

The sixth season of What We Do in the Shadows kicked off with a three-episode premiere on FX on October 21, 2024. In this opening, the Staten Island vampire crew finds themselves in delightful chaos as they embark on a series of amusing escapades that are sure to elicit plenty of laughter.

As the first episode unfolds, the vampires have a sudden revelation about Jerry—a fellow vampire who has been snoozing in a “super slumber”since New Year’s Eve of 1996. It dawns on them that they completely neglected to awaken him on the appointed date.

Set to be the final season of the series, season 6 launches with this comical setup, leading to a host of other humorous situations, all culminating in Guillermo losing his memory by the conclusion of episode 3.

Finale of What We Do in the Shadows Season 6: Guillermo’s Memory Wiped Clean

Life in the vampire’s household is anything but orderly. In the third episode of season 6, Colin Robinson suspects that the others are plotting to evict him. Consequently, he decides to team up with Nandor using an unusual method known as Sleep Hypnosis.

Colin initially finds success in his strategy. However, his use of Sleep Hypnosis inspires the other vampires to adopt the technique for their own hilarious and selfish reasons, unleashing chaos as Nandor accidentally sets parts of their home ablaze while in a hypnotic state.

To restore order, Guillermo seeks help from the Baron, who records a chant on Guillermo’s phone:

“Ye shall forget everything ye know and everything ye have known.”

When Guillermo plays this recording to the slumbering vampires, they not only forget their grievances but also lose all memory of who they are. Fortunately, Guillermo receives assistance from the Guide, who arrives just in time to offer support.

However, the premiere of What We Do in the Shadows season 6 concludes with a comedic twist: Guillermo accidentally listens to the chant on his phone right before drifting off to sleep while catching up on a podcast. Consequently, he forgets everything too.

As episode 3 wraps up, audiences are treated to a nostalgic moment as a memory-less Guillermo approaches Nandor to ask for a job in the household. Nandor humorously assures the camera that he intends to help his friend regain his lost memories the following day.

Who Exactly is Jerry?

Jerry is a vampire who used to reside with the group but fell into a deep slumber, which the others forgot to interrupt back in 1996. Upon awakening, he is disillusioned to discover that his former vampire companions have transformed into comical beings who are only after trivial adventures.

During the What We Do in the Shadows season 6 premiere, we learn that under Jerry’s influence, the vampires once dreamed of conquering new territories, but those ambitions faded with his long absence.

Now, Jerry chastises his former friends for their newfound weakness, leading Guillermo to step in. To dispel Jerry’s negative energy, he pairs him with the Guide, who is quickly enthralled by Jerry’s dominant personality, and together they scheme to reclaim their lost ambitions.

What Are the Vampires Up To This Season?

The initial three episodes of season 6 illustrate the evolving interests of the vampires. For instance, Laszlo has taken an interest in reanimating a corpse, inspired by Victor Frankenstein. Ironically, it’s Colin who eventually succeeds in this endeavor.

Nadja and Nandor have their own agenda as well. They disguise themselves as humans to infiltrate Guillermo’s workplace, causing havoc by undermining his superiors, sometimes even eliminating them. As a consequence, job openings increase, pushing Guillermo up the corporate ladder.

The next installment of What We Do in the Shadows season 6 is set to be released on October 28, 2024.
