What does Roman Reigns intend to do to Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40? The WWE champion’s endgame goes beyond the title
Despite facing fierce competition from his rival, Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes is determined to complete his story at WrestleMania 40. The two clashed at the previous year’s event, where The Tribal Chief successfully defended his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
Despite his efforts, Cody Rhodes has yet to achieve his ultimate goal of defeating Roman Reigns and claiming the elusive title that his father Dusty Rhodes was unable to attain. Determined to make a comeback and compete for the championship once more, he remains focused on challenging The Head of the Table.
After triumphing in the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble, Cody Rhodes issues a challenge to Reigns for the title. He is determined to take the champion’s rightful place as the face of the WWE, but his opponent remains steadfast in his belief that he will be the one to conclude their rivalry.
On April 4, Roman Reigns appeared as a guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon alongside his cousin, The Rock. During the interview, he pointed out that Rhodes had been reading the wrong book and that the entire WWE roster is fiercely competitive, with each wrestler vying for the top spot and willing to do whatever it takes to come out on top.
“This guy has been chasing me for two years now, I’ve beaten him, we’ve crossed this bridge already, so this is where we close the book completely on this guy, Cody Rhodes, and we display what the most powerful family in pro wrestling is all about.”[8:50 – 9:03]
Roman Reigns is determined to put an end to the Rhodes hype train that has taken over The Road to WrestleMania. He has received support from none other than The Rock, who recently made a triumphant comeback to WWE and joined forces with The Bloodline.
The Samoan team will compete against Rhodes and Seth Rollins on the first night in Philadelphia. While the Tribal Chief has been the prominent figure in WWE, Rhodes is determined to claim that title at Lincoln Financial Field this weekend. This highly anticipated match could go down in the history books, and the reigning Undisputed WWE Universal Champion is determined to put an end to his challenger’s story once and for all.
Roman Reigns Aims to Cement Family Legacy by Defeating Cody Rhodes in WWE
Cody Rhodes’ family has been a significant influence in his pursuit of winning the WWE Championship. In recent weeks, he has mentioned his mother, brother, and sister, all while expressing his desire to pay tribute to his late father, Dusty Rhodes.
In 2007, Cody and his other son Dustin (Goldust) inducted the American Dream into the WWE Hall of Fame. Throughout his illustrious career, he achieved over 50 championship victories in various promotions, solidifying his legendary status.
Despite never winning the WWE Championship himself, Dusty’s son has set his sights on claiming the title at WrestleMania 40 on Sunday. If he is successful in Philadelphia, his goal is to present the championship to his mother as a tribute.
Even so, there is another intriguing aspect to Roman Reigns’ personal background, as his family also has a long-standing connection to the world of professional wrestling. His father, Sika Anoa’i, was a member of the Wild Samoans, the initial Samoan duo to capture the WWE (formerly known as WWF) tag team championship.
Rock, Reigns’ cousin, is also the son of the late great Rocky Johnson, who was a famous wrestler. Along with Tony Atlas, they were the first Black champions in the history of WWE.
Therefore, the tension between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes has carried over to their respective families. The animosity between them, along with Rock and Seth Rollins, originated when The Final Boss believed that The American Nightmare had disrespected his family.
