She embraced him and proposed marriage.

What Comes After Love Episode 3 Recap: Hong Feels Isolated in Japan While Jungo is Engrossed in Work

In episode 3 of What Comes After Love, after parting ways with Jungo in 2019, Hong returned to South Korea. As she journeyed home, she pondered why Jungo didn’t try to stop her or look for her. Upon her arrival, she discovered that her father was not well.

Following the collapse of her father’s publishing house, Hong began working there to help stabilize the business. Currently, Jungo meeting Miyazawa Hiroko, an interpreter, sought Hong’s contact number, which she was unable to provide, although she did let him know where she lived.

After Jungo’s interview, he was surprised by a visit from Kanna, who also worked at the publishing house responsible for his novel. While Jungo struggled to cope with his breakup from Hong in the past, Kanna expressed her desire to rekindle their relationship.

Meanwhile, Hong, along with Min-jun and her friend Ji-hee (Park Mi-ram), attended a wedding dress fitting, but she appeared lost and unable to find the perfect dress. During this time, she reminisced about a joyful moment trying on an off-shoulder wedding dress with Jungo.

Following her fitting, Hong and Ji-hee went out for drinks, where she revealed to Ji-hee that Jungo was back in Korea. Hong recalled feeling isolated even during her relationship with Jungo.

Hong experienced loneliness when Ji-hee returned from Japan and during family troubles, having no one to confide in as Jungo was preoccupied with his job. A significant scene in What Comes After Love episode 3 shows Jungo trying to leave early from work but being held back by his boss.

Additionally, Hong recollected a distressing incident while jogging when she was harassed by a drunk man, causing her to fall and hurt her foot. After attempting to reach Jungo for help, he did not answer. Despite the minor injury, she needed assistance getting home, which ultimately came from Jungo’s father.

Upon Jungo’s return from work, Hong confronted him about her feelings of solitude, expressing that she felt unsupported. Jungo apologized but clarified that he was working hard to gain experience and fund his college education, assuring her he was trying his best. Hong, however, felt his efforts weren’t sufficient.

Subsequently, in the present timeline of What Comes After Love episode 3, Hong and Ji-hee opted for a second round of drinks at their favorite spot to forget about Jungo. There, they ran into Min-jun, who gave them space to talk. During dinner, Min-jun shared that he had been waiting for Hong for a long time, deciding to pursue her after spotting her at the airport upon his return from Japan.

While Hong seemed eager to discuss Jungo, Min-jun interrupted her, suggesting that over time, she might find her feelings changing and forget the very things she wanted to express.

Meanwhile, Jungo met Kanna at a café, where she disclosed her underlying reasons for visiting Korea. She admitted to waiting for him to rekindle their love for the past five years, but Jungo seemed unsettled. When Kanna inquired if he had seen Hong, he remained silent.

The episode concluded with a cliffhanger as Kanna proposed to Jungo; however, his response remains unknown. What Comes After Love premieres every Friday at 8 PM KST on Coupang Play and subsequently airs on Rakuten Viki.
